HUB Cycling seeks a Community Organizer to support the advocacy work of HUB Cycling’s ten Local Committees. The Community Organizer will report to the Director of Campaigns and Inclusion. Working closely with Local Committees, the Community Organizer will collaborate with communities to identify gaps in our cycling infrastructure.  The Community Manager will develop solutions to fill these gaps and work over the long term with others to build a safe and complete cycling network across Metro Vancouver.



  • Work with Local Committees to develop strategies and execute online and offline organizing tactics to mobilize citizens, raise awareness, push for policy and project change, and engage key allies. Document processes and outcomes.
  • Build the capacity of Local Committees through increased attendance, engagement, diversity, equity, inclusion, training, and coaching.
  • Help coordinate campaign projects (e.g. external research).
  • Coordinate the update of Local Committee cycling network gap documentation on a regular basis, including publicizing successes.
  • Engage and build relationships with First Nations leaders and governments, municipal leaders, and community groups to support efforts to support HUB’s advocacy work.
  • Working with local committees - meet and negotiate with key partners, stakeholders, government and industry officials, and non-traditional allies (e.g. chambers of commerce, tourism associations, faith-based organization, leaders from often marginalized and racialized communities).
  • Support local committees to organize and deliver public events, presentations, forums, bike rides, and meetings.
  • Help local committees to plan and develop persuasive media releases, newsletters, and other campaign materials.
  • Explore and help document various active transportation funding streams.



  • Are an exceptional time manager with a keen sense for prioritizing.
  • Are passionate about active transportation.
  • Think strategically while considering social, political, economic, and other relevant factors at play.
  • Have experience working with elected officials or Indigenous leadership or impacted communities or faith-based communities.
  • Take initiative, are highly self-motivated, and can work independently, while also being a strong contributor to a vibrant team.



  • Relevant work experience.
  • Persuasive story-telling skills with the ability to write plain language communications. HUB recognizes that 26 percent of people in B.C. speak a language other than Indigenous languages or English or French as their first language.   • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with partners, volunteers, and staff.
  • Commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Competency with computer software including Google Suite, MailChimp, and databases or CRM.
  • Experience engaging underserved/marginalized groups or communities.



This is a full-time position (35 hours/week) starting immediately with compensation of $23-30 per hour, depending on experience. 

The successful candidate will need access to their own cell phone and a reliable home internet connection.

All staff is currently expected to temporarily work remotely due to COVID-19. You must be reasonably available for future in-person meetings and events in Metro Vancouver that follow public health authority guidelines.
