Here’s what we can do together:

Summer Camp Leader wanted for the Providing Resources & Independence for Youth Development Program (PRIYD) to lead the annual Summer Camp for children and youth with special needs in Burnaby and New Westminster.

The Summer Camp Leader will be working as part of our existing PRIYD Integration Support team to plan and carry out summer activities that promote independence for children and youth who have been diagnosed with a developmental disability, such as Autism.

 

What you bring:

Required Experience:

  • Two years coursework in related field such as the Social Sciences, Education or Social Work
  • One year experience with children ages 10-18 in a recreational setting
  • One year experience with individuals with special needs or behavioural challenges

Other Requirements:

  • Enthusiasm to work with youth who have special needs, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to pass criminal record check
  • Preferred: Class 5 driver’s license and clean driving record. Willingness to drive the PRIYD mini-van.  Valid First Aid certification.

 

Your key contributions:

  • Communicate professionally with internal staff, external stakeholders, and client families to ensure smooth operations of all aspects of Summer Camp
  • Work with a co-leader to execute Camp activities while participating with enthusiasm and supporting youth and children in their learning
  • Promote fun, relationship building, and safety throughout Summer Camp

Work Hours: Monday to Friday, ~8:45am-3:15pm; 30-35 hours per week 

Dates: July 5, 2021-August 20, 2021

Hourly Pay: $21.41 per hour

Location: Community based
