This role is responsible for providing a range of prevention and early intervention, child focused consultation and direct services to promote optimum functioning of the child, aged birth to 12, within the child care environment.

 

This is a full-time contract role until March 2022.

 

Strides Toronto is a multi-service agency providing services to young people from birth to age 29 and their families in East Toronto. Formed in January 2020 through the amalgamation of Aisling Discoveries and East Metro Youth Services, Strides Toronto provides a range of community, residential and treatment services to improve the mental, social, and physical health of infants, children, youth and their families. We provide individual, group and family interventions that include mental health counselling, autism services, education, outreach and referral, early intervention, day treatment and community support. 

As Lead Agency for infant, child and youth mental health in Toronto, Strides Toronto works with 25 core service providers to design and implement system-level improvements that transform access to services, experience of services and the mental health outcomes for Toronto’s diverse communities.  

Strides Toronto has a budget of $30 million and more than 350 employees providing services out of 19 locations across East Toronto. The organization Is accredited by the Centre for Accreditation and the predecessor organizations have a long history of providing high-quality services in East Toronto.

What will you do? 

  • Conduct assessment of child’s functioning and individual needs and provide observation and written individualized program planning, behaviour management strategies related to children to child care centres.
  • Provides observation, assessment, support and referrals to appropriate services for families.
  • Provides information, training, coaching, modelling and consultation in the area of special needs to child care centres and families.
  • Facilitates training to child care staff, programs, families and community.
  • Maintains appropriate up-to-date records, reports and progress plans and other administrative requirements.
  • Considerable local travel is required.

What are we looking for?

  • Early Childhood Education Diploma or equivalent college diploma and Special Needs Resource Certificate or equivalent certificate/diploma. 
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience working with infants, toddlers, preschool and school aged children. 
  • Demonstrated motivation to seek further education, knowledge and skills beyond the minimum requirements.
  • Ability to operate computers and related technology comfortably and efficiently.
  • Excellent oral and written skills.
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license in good standing with access to the use of a vehicle.  
  • Must be a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators.

Additional Assets 

  • Fluency in another language(s).

This role is a part of OPSEU Local 567 bargaining unit.

Salary range from $54,914 to $62,702
