We are one of the largest providers of community support services in Canada, with a staff of over  1,600 workers and an annual budget well above $100 million. Last year, we facilitated a better quality of life for more than 6,100 clients nationwide – and we want to help even more.
 
As a key member of our Community Support Services team, you will be our engagement lead in Manitoba, identifying opportunities and developing the relationships we need to expand our services. And as our operational lead, you will bring leadership to our Manitoba team of frontline workers who provide care and connection to the people we serve in their individual or shared-living homes.
 
Today, more than ever, seniors and people with disabilities and/or brain injuries want and expect to live as independently as possible in their own homes, rather than moving into long-term care. To do that, many people require assistance with getting up in the morning, bathing, toileting, eating and dressing. Others need help learning how to adjust to their new normal after a brain injury. That’s where our Community Support Services team comes in – your team, if you join us.
 
We provide programs and services nationwide, but we are just getting started in Manitoba. We opened our Winnipeg office during the pandemic and are already supporting individuals living with the complexities of brain injuries, many related to mental health issues and addictions. We want to help more people in Manitoba, but we need to find the right person to make that happen.
 
The Regional Director, Manitoba will report to the Associate Director of Community Support Services. This is a full-time, permanent job with competitive benefits and a pension.
 
Responsibilities – Engagement Lead (60%):
  • Identify unmet community needs and gaps in service that March of Dimes Canada can fill to meet our goals for expanded operations in Manitoba.
  • Establish strategic partnerships with consumer organizations, advocacy groups, government and other organizations to support our mission.
  • Expand our services by marketing and promoting our programs to funders, self-managed care individuals and other prospective users.
  • Participate as an integral member of the Community Support Services Management team in planning, problem resolution, quality improvement and review of service delivery performance.
 
Responsibilities – Operational Lead (40%):
  • Plan, develop and implement operating plans and activities in accordance with strategic objectives, policies and operating standards.
  • In collaboration with the Supervisor who reports to you, manage the 35-person operation in Winnipeg that provides community level, in-home supports to clients with disabilities, seniors and those living with brain injuries or other mental health conditions.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of an effective staffing plan to include quality supervision and coaching of staff, timely completion of performance evaluations, and adherence to employment and safety regulations that will ensure safe and efficient operations.
  • Effectively secure provincial government funding, monitor financial and capital resources and grow the existing operating budget.
 
Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field, with minimum 5 years’ management experience in the Social Services/Health Sector in Manitoba.
  • Extensive knowledge of government funding for persons with disabilities in the province of Manitoba.
  • A solid network of Social Services/Health Sector contacts in Manitoba.
  • An ability to identify business opportunities and establish and foster mutually-beneficial partnerships
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues and write well-defined reports for management and external stakeholders.
  • A people leader with proven ability to work effectively with a wide range of internal and external constituencies in a diverse community.
  • A solid understanding of fee-based services
  • Ability to analyze complex, sensitive problems and situations, evaluate alternatives and make sound, appropriate recommendations or decisions.
  • Advanced computer skills and highly aptitude for learning and using computer software.
