Director of Fundraising Operations


Reports To

Chief Fundraising & Brand Officer



The Director of Fundraising Operations acts as the ‘business manager’ for the Foundation and is the owner of Foundation processes and programs including business analytics, business systems (Raiser’s Edge, Team Raiser, Engaging Networks and NetCommunity) and support to other Foundation senior leaders with annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting management and tracking.  This role provides direction to the Foundation Operations team and ensures they are providing effective centralized services to the Foundation.

Key Responsibilities

  • People Leadership:
    • Provide oversight of the Annual Giving, Donations Systems, Stewardship, Volunteer Ambassador program and Research Analytics
    • Develop a strong team that will be engaged, inclusive, collaborative and results oriented
  • Business Analytics:
    • Improve internal capacity and effectiveness of STARS’ use of donor data to make evidence-driven operational decisions that generate stronger donor relationships and financial results across the Foundation
    • Use data insights to recommend, develop, implement and measure engagement strategies for STARS’ existing and prospective donor audiences
    • Provide recurrent strategic feedback to the Annual Giving, Stewardship, Volunteer Ambassador and Donor Systems team
    • Provide sales analysis to STARS lottery programs
  • Fundraising Software and Technology:
    • Business owner of fundraising software and technology; working with IT on the Foundation’s technology road map and representative on the STARS Data Governance committee
  • Budgeting, Reporting and Tracking:
    • Working with the Foundation leadership team and STARS Finance team on the annual budgeting cycle, including reporting and tracking of fundraising targets throughout the year
    • Manage the Foundation’s annual business planning process, including monitoring and tracking of priority initiatives
  • Project Management:
    • Lead and/or mentor the implementation of new or improved business processes
    • Working with the Foundation leadership team, collaborate on the development, implementation and management of successful fundraising campaigns

Experience and Education

  • Extensive experience in the charitable sector and proven management and knowledge of not-for-profit data systems with experience using Blackbaud software an asset
  • 7+ years of direct people leadership, inclusive of leading managers
  • Degree, diploma, or certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution in Business or Marketing Analytics or equivalent experience preferred
  • MBA would be considered an asset
