Lower Mainland Purpose Society for Youth and Families has the following position available:

 

Position: Food Hamper Support Worker

Hours:            Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 2:00 pm or until work is finished

Location:        40 Begbie Street, New Westminster, B.C.

Start Date:     Immediately

 

Job description:

 

Working alongside volunteers and other food hamper workers, you will support the Purpose Society Food Hamper Program that provides supplemental groceries to food insecure individuals and families. This program is in response to the COVID19 pandemic.

 

Core responsibilities:

  • Packing food hampers according to client information and dietary restrictions
  • Receiving and sorting food donations
  • Maintaining organization and tidiness of both kitchen and pantry
  • Ordering adequate food supplies according to need
  • Communicating with community partners regarding food donations, deliveries and food pick ups
  • Coordinating hamper recipients and volunteer drivers

 

Requirements:

  • Have a valid class 5 license and be willing to operate a motor vehicle
  • Clean Driver’s Abstract
  • Be able to lift maximum 50lbs
  • Be physically able to carry heavy loads up and down stairs

  • Have tolerance and acceptance towards street entrenched folks and/or people who are struggling with poverty, mental illness, addiction
