About ACAA

The Association of Communities Against Abuse (“ACAA”) is the primary sexual abuse and sexual assault service provider in the East Central Region of Alberta, delivering specialized counselling, crisis services and education.  For over 30 years, ACAA has offered leadership, expertise and compassionate services to lessen the impact of trauma, and to support the health and wellbeing of the entire community.


What We Require

Flexible part-time support workers who can dedicate 10 – 20 hours per week.

The ACAA will consider applications for either an employee or a contractor relationship.


The Role

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Support Worker provides direct client service to individuals and families including information, support and referral. This may include navigating the health, criminal justice and social systems, providing information on options and services, and referrals to appropriate resources.

Key Responsibilities

  • Appropriately assess, inform and refer individuals
  • Offer accurate information about options and services available to individuals
  • Accompany individuals to relevant appointments (e.g., health, justice, employment) as required
  • Assist with navigation of complex systems
  • Prepare individuals and their family members for court process if applicable
  • Support therapeutic process, working closely with the therapy team to implement goals with clients, their families, and other professionals
  • Provide assistance with relevant paperwork/forms
  • Liaise with other professionals on behalf of the individual
  • Ensure accuracy, confidentiality and safekeeping of agency records
  • Develop and maintain respectful, cooperative working relationships

Experience Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in social work, psychology, or related field
  • Minimum two (2) years experience working in human services field
  • Knowledge working with criminal justice system, sexual violence, and/or domestic violence is a definite asset
  • Possess an anti-oppressive analysis of sexual violence

Other Qualifications

  • Ability to travel(services are provided across East Central Alberta, including the communities of Camrose, Stettler, Drumheller, Hanna, Castor, Coronation and surrounding areas)
  • Must own, properly register, and insure own vehicle
  • Possess a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license
  • Satisfactory professional and criminal reference checks
  • Occasional evenings and weekends
