Canadian Students for Sensible Drug Policy is an independent grassroots network of chapters made up of youth and students who are concerned about the negative impact current drug policies have on individuals and communities. CSSDP considers problematic drug use a health and human rights issue rather than a criminal justice issue, and advocates for appropriate government and agency responses to reduce and prevent harm from drug use. CSSDP provides education and resources to empower young people to make informed decisions about illicit substances, while simultaneously creating a compassionate and non-judgmental space for discussion. CSSDP mobilizes its members to participate in the political process at all levels and to push for government policies grounded on evidence which will help Canada achieve a safer and more just future.
CSSDP is currently mobilizing a two year national cannabis education project to engage young people across Canada in sensible, evidence informed cannabis education and support. Building from an extensive, evidence-based resource titled, “Sensible Cannabis Education: A Toolkit for Educating Youth”, which aims to guide educators and parents in having non-stigmatizing, informative, and mutually beneficial conversations with young people about cannabis, this two year project will engage English and French speaking young people aged 17-25 through a series of workshops and other engagement activities. CSSDP is currently seeking an accountant or bookkeeper to work up to 10 hours per month. This individual will be responsible for processing payroll and associated administrative functions, year end tax reporting, and create and reconcile all filings/payments as required by CRA. They will work closely with the Program Manager on any reporting needs and provide periodic reports to the Board of Directors.
Must be able to work independently.
This is contract based work for the duration of the project (present to end of July 2022), hourly wage $25 to $35 per hour, depending on experience.
