The Phoenix Society is a not-for-profit society dedicated to providing accessible services and opportunities to people who face barriers related to addiction, mental health, housing, education, criminal justice involvement and/or employment. In May we will be opening an exciting new Supportive Housing project in Surrey and are now looking to build an amazing team.




Reporting to the Housing Manager, the Program Assistant will work as part of an integrated services team responsible for providing day-to-day support, direct assistance, supervision, and monitoring of residents. 



  • Participate in the team’s planning and implementation of quality improvement projects such as evaluating resident needs, improving services, and implementing new service strategies.
  • Administrative tasks such as:
    • Photocopying
    • Assisting with case documentation
    • Database entries
    • Filing
    • Preparing new client files
    • Professionally answering phones


  • Education/Experience: Two-year diploma from a post-secondary education and training relevant to the addiction treatment field, or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
    • Preference will be given to those with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in the addiction services field within a community setting, assisting those affected by substance misuse, concurrent disorders, unemployment, a lack of education, criminal justice involvement, homelessness, and poverty-related issues to become active participants in the social, economic and cultural life of the community.
  • Fluent and able to effectively communicate professionally, orally and written in English. 
  • Current First Aid Certificate with CPR
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check to work with vulnerable populations.
  • Effectively utilize Office suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and central data systems.
  • Proven interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and productively with other team members and colleagues.
  • Strong analytical thinking and decision-making.
