This is a new position that will start in August preparing for September programs. The hours of work are 15 to 21 hours per week, with possibilities of being full time. The preferred candidate will possess a background in Early Childhood Development and have experience with staff supervision. The position includes facilitating a weekly pre-school program as well as staff management relating to the recruitment, orientation, scheduling and supervision of child development staff for agency programs. Salary will be negotiated, based on qualifications.
Related post-secondary education preferred. Equivalencies will be considered.
Three to five years related experience.
Satisfactory criminal record and Child Welfare checks.
Access to reliable transportation.
Excellent communication & self care skills.
Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with agency staff and clients.
Develop a careful and creative program suitable for preschool children
Observe each child to help them improve their social competencies and build self-esteem and for any signs of developmental delays or behavioral issues
Track children’s progress and report to parents
Maintaining regular communication with parents
Staff management responsibilities include: collaboration with the manager regarding hiring; recruitment; orientation; performance evaluation; scheduling; and organizing of Childcare staff for agency programs.
Complete all tasks related to ensuring suitable staff coverage is available for all necessary programs.
Ensure that Childcare staff are providing quality, age-appropriate activities and care in a safe environment.
Completion and submission of all paperwork as required. This would include timesheets reports, personnel files, evaluations and statistics..
Other duties as agreed upon with supervisor.
