 The Controller ensures that the necessary organizational accounting, budgeting, business and auditing systems and procedures are in place and functioning properly. The Controller is responsible for producing and distributing accurate and timely financial information such as monthly profit/loss and balance sheet statements, and to be a primary resource for TBG on accounting and financial accounting analysis and general entries to understand operations.

The Controller works collaboratively and closely with Directors and senior management staff, supporting their information, reporting and analysis requirements, and guiding their implementation of accounting and business policies and procedures.

The Controller also coordinates all aspects of the financial operations and systems of the Adult Guardianship Program, ensuring all client account procedures, transactions, reconciliations, and internal audits are carried out and functioning properly. The Controller will work closely with the AG Program Manager to ensure services are delivered to meet both financial and client requirements.



  1. Completion of a professional accounting designation required: Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), OR Certified General Accountant (CGA), OR Chartered Accountant (CA).
  2. Five (5) year’s experience in a financial/accounting background including two (2) years management / supervisory level experience, or an equivalent combination of related education, training and experience.
  3. Experience in a retail banking, pension, or other personal finance operation an asset.
  4. Proficiency at an intermediate to advanced level for Sage 300, MS Excel and MS Access, Crystal Reporting to be able to complement the duties and responsibilities. Proficiency of other MS Office applications.
  5. Experience working in a public sector or community setting, and in a unionized environment, an asset.

  5. Ability to effectively and independently manage high workload levels and priorities to meet established timelines and competing objectives.
  6. Ability and willingness to work respectfully and empathetically with marginalized and vulnerable populations served by The Bloom Group.
