About the Program Manager Role
The Program Manager works from our strategic plan, leading the development and delivery of our suite of programs and services, and creating programs and partnerships to move our vision forward. The Program Manager is knowledgeable about peer support, eating disorders, and recovery, and has
their finger on the pulse of the needs and strengths of the community we serve. The Program Manager identifies emerging and ongoing issues and works collaboratively to design solutions and deliver programs supporting recovery. The Program Manager provides training and ongoing supervision
support to our growing team of Mentors.
The Program Manager has an eye on continuous improvement based on data. In collaboration with the team, the Program Manager will work to scale up the delivery of quality peer support. The Program Manager stays up to date on trends, research, and plays a role in research projects.
Direct personal experience recovering from an eating disorder is an asset.
o Liaise with community, professional, and clinical eating disorder organizations to develop
partnerships, determine service gaps and needs, and develop new and innovative programs.
o Review all program reports, identifying trends, and areas where additional training or support is required.
o Develop relationships with historically marginalized communities to identify and co-create culturally, and age-appropriate supports.
o Support our transition to a new digital platform.
o Oversee matching of Mentors with mentees
o Pay attention to vibes; identify topics and facilitators for Workshops.
o Ensure smooth operation of our Peer Support Programs (Chat, Peer Support Groups, Mentoring, Family Peer Support)
o Work in collaboration with our Dietitian and Therapist to ensure our clients have the support they need
o Coordinate Virtual Peer Support Training, including marking assignments, exams, and providing feedback
o Manage Programs budget
o Develop relevant policies and procedures
o In collaboration with the team, organize, develop, and deliver outreach presentations
Evaluation and Research
o Support and collaborate with team on the completion of grants and research projects
o Ensure data collection processes are being carried out
o Provide monthly program summaries
o Review and analyse evaluation reports to ensure programs are meeting objectives
o Coordinate the Program Co-design Advisory; seek out voices of historically marginalized voices
o Participate in the Family Peer Support Research Project
o Implement recommendations from the Safe, Seen, and Supported Research Project
o Provide supervision and support to Program Assistant
o Identify needs, recruit, screen, onboard and manage Mentors, Workshop Facilitators, and volunteers
o Oversee team of approximately 45+ Mentors, providing coaching and support
o Organize and facilitate quarterly Peer Support Community of Practice
o Provide student supervision to student interns of various academic disciplines
o 3+ years of experience in non-profit sector program management
o Experience in project management
o People focus with ability to develop and build high performing teams
o Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced, and innovative environment
o Curious, solutions-focused, and shudder when they hear the expression “Because we’ve always done it that way.”
o Able to work both independently and collaboratively
o Knowledge of eating disorders, recovery, peer support, and weight bias
o Strong time management, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
o Proficiency with MS suite of programs, technology, e-platforms, and applications
o Experience delivering virtual services through zoom or any other virtual communication tool
o Understanding of privacy regulations and ability to ensure compliance with privacy policies.
o Knowledge of community-based supports, and an understanding of the NS mental health care system
o Strong networking skills and existing connections to relevant organizations
