Full time (35 hours week) Monday to Friday. (this role may require working outside of traditional business hours to meet the needs of clients)
Description of the Position:
Under the direction of the Supervisor, the primary responsibility of this high-response, people centred position is to work directly with clients to collaboratively develop individualized coaching plans to assist and support them to succeed in achieving their employment goal and resulting in securing and maintaining employment.
This role is responsible for engaging the client in a partnership for success through the implementation of 1:1 coaching strategies and the development of resource tools to support the client and prepare them for attaining and retaining employment. Working directly with, employment counsellor, facilitator, job developer, the Job Coach will also work directly with employers and community partners to provide comprehensive support to their client in a variety of employment and employment related situations.
With the goal of achieving client, agency and employer retention goals, the job coach will develop and implement detailed individualized coaching plans that support the training deliverables of a placement contract and address the specific needs of the client and the employers with whom they are employed. This role will require
advanced knowledge and experience working with individuals with disabilities. Remaining current on learning styles, mental health and behavioural issues which will result in the development of creative tools and strategies to assist participants with coping and overcoming issues with a solutions focused approach. The job coach will be effective using motivational interviewing skills, to move participants forward to reach their employment goals. Coaching will support the client in a variety of service interventions which may include but is not limited to: 1:1 counselling and coaching, completing Group Based Pre Employment Skills and Work placements, essential and life skills, employment retention resulting in securing and maintaining employment.
Working directly with employers, the job coach will be adept at analyzing work environments and will conduct workplace surveys to properly analyze the support required for the participant on the job. In collaboration with client and employer, the job coach will implement coaching strategies for the participant while on the job and to support both the individual and the employer to effectively communicate and implement the coaching strategies to support the participant to succeed on the job. They will also provide, counselling and support to assist clients in maintaining employment. If appropriate, they will identify and foster mentors within the job site with the goal of building a supportive work environment for the participant.
The Job Coach will play an intrinsic role to support clients and to achieve program targets of employment and retention. When required the Job Coach will assist with the determination of service needs process. They will provide feedback to the Job Developer, employment counsellor and Facilitator to effectively implement strategies for the participant to achieve milestones in their employment plan. The Job Coach will provide one-on-one assistance to the client during their transition to employment and during and after their work placement. It is expected that they will maintain high standards of case management including keeping detailed client files, timely documentation, regular and ongoing follow up with clients.
As required the Job Coach will be expected to prepare and conduct group presentations and workshops. They will also help clients access other services they may want or need, including those of community partners as necessary.
The Job Coach will work collaboratively with their colleagues to develop and maintain innovative programming that achieves the highest standards in employment practices. It is expected that in this role, the Job Coach will utilize current and relevant tools for coaching, including Virtual Reality software to enhance and develop cutting edge approaches to job coaching and client development to secure and maintain employment.
Education: Must have diploma or degree in Social Services, Career Practitioner Designation or related field of study with specialized knowledge working with people with disabilities
Experience: 2 years working within employment services sector or related field with direct experience working with people with disabilities
Must have valid driver's license, hiring conditional on clear vulnerable sector check
