                             22.5 - 30 Hours/Week (depending on operational needs)

Position Overview:  The Retail Operations Associate contributes to the generation of revenue in support of various CCS programs and activities by assisting in the safe and efficient operation of each store and in creating a customer friendly environment.

 

Position Deliverables/Accountabilities:   Under the leadership of the Manager, Retail Operations (or designate) the incumbent will:

 

Sales Floor

  • Welcome and serve shoppers in a friendly and helpful manner, including conducting cash transactions in accordance with Retail Operations procedures;
  • Provide efficient and accurate checkout service;
  • Promote upcoming sales or special events;
  • Maintain orderly sales floor, dressing rooms and check out areas;
  • Price and replenish merchandise;
  • Answer telephone and customer enquiries in a professional manner.

Production Area

  • Welcome donors and assist them with their donations;
  • Safely lift and maneuver boxes and bags of donated items up to 30 kilos;
  • Sort through donations and evaluate items for quality and condition;
  • Price items according to established guidelines;
  • Meet assigned production targets for each shift;
  • Place clothing on hangers and items on racks, distribute to the appropriate area on the sales floor.

General

  • Assist with opening and / or closing procedures including possibly being a key holder;
  • Assists in the orientation of youth and volunteer workers, ensuring they have the required information and knowledge to perform their roles safely and effectively;
  • Maintains overall store and personal workspace / equipment cleanliness and sanitizing along with co-workers while using provided PPE;
  • Participates in regular mandatory staff meetings and trainings as required;
  • Other duties as required.

 

Qualification Criteria: 

  • Minimum High School or equivalent;
  • Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in receiving, pricing or merchandising;
  • Passionate about helping others;
  • Effective Communicator;
  • Committed to working with a team to build a great customer experience;
  • Cash register experience an asset;
  • Knowledge of the Not for Profit Sector is an asset;
  • Comfortable interacting with the public;
  • Good oral and written English;
  • Eye for detail ;
  • Dependability;
  • Possess the ability to learn and follow procedures for cash handling, pricing, sorting and merchandising.
