ROLE: Event Planner
The purpose of Event Planner at EMCN is to collaborate in the planning and organization of events and other fundraising activities. This position supports the Fund Development Officer to have effective events and fundraising activities that will help our reputation and revenue growth.
An Event Planner should be a competent professional able to manage all aspects of an event. You should also be versed in marketing concepts, principles and tactics.
Your Responsibilities Include:
The Event Planner provides support to all aspects of an event from pre-planning, determining resource needs, pre-event marketing, and on-site coordination, to post event follow up.
Order supplies needed for events and ensure items arrive in a timely fashion.
Assist in site and vendor selection and negotiating the best possible rates and terms.
Develop effective and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Conduct post-event data and strategic analysis to inform future events.
Manage all event registration aspects
Input data in Donor Management System
Liaise with external stakeholders to execute promotional events and campaigns
Collaborate with the Fund Development and Communications Team to coordinate agency awareness and fund development efforts
Plan and execute initiatives to reach the target audience through appropriate channels (social media, e-mail, website content, etc.)
Support the Fund Development Officer in all the other aspects of her role as needed
Things that matter to us
Proven experience as event planner or similar role
Thorough understanding of event planning elements (including traditional and digital marketing such as SEO/Social media etc.) and market research methods
Demonstrable experience in marketing data analytics and tools
Solid computer skills, including MS Office 365, design software (e.g. Canva), and event registration platform EventBrite.
Well-organized and detail oriented
Exceptional communication and writing skills
Creative mind and passionate about furthering the organization’s mission
Ability to work in a culturally diverse environment
Strong work ethic with the ability to work on flexible hours as required
Ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision
Occasional Evening and weekend availability for special events
Photography skills is an asset
Knowledge of Donor Management System databases is an asset
Understanding of immigrant sector and non-profits is an asset

CAD 20 per hour. 30 hours per week, for 9 weeks.
Start Date: August 23, 2021
Flexibility of working hours and locations: You are the decision-maker to make a decision regarding your working location and schedule.
