Elevate is a purpose-driven not-for-profit committed to uniting the world’s innovators to solve society’s greatest challenges. In partnership with the United Nations, Elevate offers year-round tech, innovation and sustainability programs via the Elevate Social Innovation Exchange (Elevate SIX).

 

In 2021, Elevate launched Elevate Talent working with Community Partners across the GTHA with a rapid workforce development program for underrepresented communities. By collaborating with community, employment and learning partners, the project will match training to the more than 70,000 open jobs in the tech and innovation sector.

Position

Who you are

You are a natural people connector and collaborator, who is passionate about supporting impactful programs to improve economic opportunities for those experiencing multiple barriers to employment. You are an empathetic communicator who is skilled at supporting community outreach activities, recruitment and intake of participants from underrepresented communities, and coordinating support services alongside community partners

 

You are a champion and aligned to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI). You also apply a EDI lens to your interactions and management of both internal and external stakeholder relationships. You are adaptable, dynamic and not shy to bring new ideas forward in a collaborative working environment.

 

The opportunity

In this role, you will:

  • Report to the Manager, Community Engagement and support the community engagement strategy by working with partners on the intake and recruitment of participants to the Elevate Talent program.
  • Coordinate specialized support for participants experiencing multiple barriers to employment through Elevate’s network of community partners.
  • Support the registration and onboarding of participants to the program including assessing the wrap around support and other resources needed for successful completion of the program.
  • Establish strong relationships with community partner staff, success advisors and community members to promote collaboration and ensure a clear flow communication among internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively across the Elevate team to advise on best practices for community engagement and program design for participants furthest from employment opportunities.
  • Additional tasks and responsibilities of a similar nature will expand as we continue to grow.
  • Some flexibility to work evenings and weekends in exceptional circumstances.

Required Skills

What you bring

  • Two or more years of experience working in collaboration with community and/or social service organizations, in particular those that serve communities experiencing multiple barriers to employment.
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field (e.g., adult education, community development, community/public affairs, social work, counselling, etc.) and/or equivalent relevant experience. 
  • Experience maintaining good relationships and managing expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Effective project coordination and organizational skills, experience working in community and/or social service organizations an asset.
  • The ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
  • Excellent listening, interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency Google Workplace (G Suite), Slack, Zoom, Salesforce and/or other relevant technologies.
  • Proficiency in French is an asset.

Benefits and Compensation

  • Full-time, contract position until March 2022 based in the GTHA (remote work options available)
  • Two weeks’ vacation per year (prorated based on duration of the contract) with additional time off over the winter holiday and company-wide holidays
  • Salary of $60,000 per year (prorated based on duration of the contract)
