Regular Full Time (35 hours/week)

Position Summary: 

The Rental Assistance Program Youth Housing Worker will administer housing subsidies to a caseload of up to 40 youth and facilitate housing and life skills programming. This worker will provide one-on-one support to a caseload of young people ages 16 through 24 and help them work on life skills and individualized goals, provide brief check ins when needed and provide support to participants in maintaining housing.  The successful applicant will have a background in nonviolent crisis intervention, harm reduction approach and experience liaising with a team of supportive staff. A solid background in work with LGBTQ2S* youth, Indigenous youth, at-risk youth, and youth exiting the foster care systems is required. Previous supportive housing work preferred.

Staff will facilitate groups and programming and often act as a part of an integrated case management team with other social service professionals such as MCFD social workers, mental health and addictions support staff and education support workers. 

The schedule for this position will be Monday to Friday.

Primary Duties:
Assisting participants to set and achieve personal goals

Facilitating successful transition to long term sustainable housing after program involvement

Keeping accurate and up to date case notes and files

Academic and Job Experience Required:

B.A. or a degree in a related field, a community service support worker (CSSW) diploma or child

and youth care counsellor (CYCC) diploma plus two years’ experience.  Extensive field experience

and/or combination of relevant life experience will be taken into consideration.                 

Basic Requirements:

  • Criminal record check including the vulnerable sector
  • Standard first aid certificate and CPR
  • Class 5 driver’s license

Desired Requirements:

  • Experience with the HIFIS data entry system
