Term Full Time (35 hours/week-Term until March 31 2022)

Position Summary:

Pacific Community Resources Society requires an experienced Youth Housing Program Team Lead to support our overnight housing staff.  The successful applicant will be part of an integrated youth services team providing support for young people at a number of supported housing sites around east Vancouver. 

This position requires a sound understanding of youth housing program operations, integrative case management, harm reduction and overdose response.  This is a term position until March 31 2022. 

Primary Duties:

1)Provides shift to shift leadership to housing support staff:

  • Coordinating with leadership team-Housing Manager, Overnight Housing Supervisor and Daytime Site Supervisors
  • Connects with youth in housing program providing 1:1 supports when needed.
  • Floating between housing sites to provide backup support to frontline staff.
  • Monitoring check in group to track status of overnight housing team and provide on call support

2)   Provides direct support of the overnight housing support team:

  • Orientation of new staff, providing training regarding youth work and policy and procedure issues, assisting staff in understanding the roles of the various provincial and federal ministries, other agencies and PCRS.
  • Motivates the overnight team to meet their full potential and delegates as appropriate.
  • Provides back up in critical situations and when short staffed on site

3)    Maintains health and safety standards:

  • Provides leadership concerning crisis management, maintains good safety practices and a harm reduction approach.
  • Is aware of child protection issues and legislation, and understands reporting procedures.
  • Understands the stresses of the jobs and takes steps to prevent burn out and supports the general wellness of their team.
  • Supports the cleanliness and maintenance of our housing sites as needed.

4)    Displays competency working with LGBTQ2SI, Indigenous, newcomer and street involved youth:

  • Able to support the needs of these populations and general understanding of the needs of youth at risk of homelessness.

Academic and Job Experience Required:

  • B.A. or a degree in a related field or diploma plus two (2) years related experience
  • Demonstrated experience working with at-risk, multi-barriered, homeless youth ages 15-24 and understanding their unique needs.
  • Extensive field experience or relevant life experience will be considered

 Basic Requirements:

  • Criminal Records Check including the vulnerable sector.
  • Current Standard First Aid certificate.
  • Valid BC Driver’s license and clean drivers abstract          

Desired Requirements:

  • Experience creating and working within a trauma-informed, culturally inclusive environment for staff, partners and youth.
  • Physically able to complete housing related tasks such as cleaning, occasional maintenance duties and help youth moving in/out of site (lift 30lbs)

Hours of Work:  35 hours per week, overnight from 9pm to 5am

Salary Range: $27.40/hour to $30.31/hour, plus a comprehensive benefits package
