PCRS seeks a regular part-time youth worker to augment support for our Surrey Youth Resource Centre and the Caregiver Support Program. This youth worker is responsible for supporting activities at the Surrey Youth Hubs and maintaining a welcoming, safe, inclusive, and vibrant space for youth to access the supports and services they need to achieve their goals. This person will develop and enhance relationships with all service staff in the building and many partners in our direct community. In addition to supporting programming at the Hubs, this worker will provide one-to-one case management for youth whose caregivers are working with the Caregiver Support Program. They are a skilled youth worker who excels at supporting youth to achieve their goals while fostering a strong connection for youth to the Hubs and other community opportunities.
The youth worker will work collaboratively with the Youth Programming Coordinator to offer resource room drop-in programming, including the planning and implementing activities and groups connected to space. They have a solid understanding of youth engagement, psycho-social development, and community development. The youth worker will engage with young people to offer both brief one-on-one support and some longer-term case management while working as a dynamic member of the larger Youth Services Team, supporting youth connected to more than one PCRS program.
This position requires working flexible hours into the evenings and weekends and availability to cover daytime shifts where needed.
Academic and Job Experience Required:
B.A. in a related field plus one year related experience, or a Child and Youth Care or Youth Justice Diploma plus two years’ experience, or a combination of related work experience and education with at-risk youth.
