In this role, you will be responsible for building and articulating PoMoArts public identity and advocating for the arts and artists in our community.
Established in 1998, PoMoArts (formerly the Port Moody Arts Centre) is a not-for-profit organization housed in a beautiful heritage facility. Functioning as an exhibition space, arts education centre, community rental space, and arts-based birthday party studio, we welcome upwards of 40,000 visitors annually.
A vital hub of creative activity in the City of Port Moody, we offer up to 400 quality arts classes/year for all ages and skill levels in ceramic, visual, media, literary and musical arts, free contemporary public art gallery showcasing over 280 local emerging and established artists/year, and a variety of arts & culture based community engagement events. Manage all of PoMoArts’ marketing, promotional and graphic design needs. This includes promotion of our art classes, gallery exhibits, events, rental, birthday programs and any other relevant activities.
Digital Media & Marketing:
Develop and manage a social media editorial calendar and manage all our social media channels on a daily basis, including creating digital content, engaging in social conversations, and responding to customer inquiries
Expand our online presence, grow social media audience, and increase audience engagement
Coordinate, design, and publish regular email newsletters, artist calls, and special event announcements in MailChimp & maintain subscriber lists
Maintain and update our website for upcoming exhibitions, programs, events, and other information, writing or editing all copy as needed
Maintain Youtube archive of past events and web archive of previous exhibitions
Take photographs and videos as required to support social media campaigns or website updates, ensuring.
Manage the technical elements of any livestream or other digital events including artist talks
Create print material as required to promote events, birthday and rentals program and for each new gallery exhibition including posters, rack cards, etc.
Produce a seasonal brochure (3 times a year) to promote the programs, gallery, and events. Oversee its printing and ensure a digital copy is available on the PoMoArts website
Design eye-catching print and digital advertisements to promote programming through various media partnerships
Create and source printing of large outdoor signage, including vinyl banners, A-Frame signs, streetlight banners, tent canopies, electronic billboards, etc.
Educate and liaise with other staff members to ensure alignment of brand voice in all our outgoing messaging.
Manage and mentor marketing interns working under your supervision from time to time.
Work closely with all staff as needed to support appropriate development of your marketing and promotional efforts, and on any organizational wide efforts including planned diversity, equity, inclusion and reconciliation training and education.
As needed and if time allows, support the Executive Director in writing press releases, speaking with the media and preparing copy for grant applications.
This position reports to the Executive Director but works closely with the entire staff team.
Combination of education, training, and demonstrated experience in communications, marketing and graphic design.
Extensive knowledge of digital marketing and social media platforms, tools, and analytics including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc.
Demonstrated experience in developing eye-catching graphic designs for print and digital media
Comfortable managing the back-end of a website and all it’s content with training
Highly developed verbal, visual and written communication skills
Comprehensive knowledge of social media best practices and strategic use of hashtags
Creative thinker with an aptitude for creating content, developing strategies, and generating new and impactful ways to engage audiences
Critical eye and strong attention to detail, with an eye for consistency across multiple projects
Excellent copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills
Strong organization and project management skills with the proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines without compromising quality
Self-motivated with the ability to work both independently and learn on the go
Enthusiastic attitude and demonstrated ability to work well in a small team
Proficiency in relevant desktop applications, design and photo-editing software, and online tools including:
Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Spark, Premier Rush or Premiere Pro, Canva, Content Management Systems (Joomla, Squarespace, Wordpress), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Mailchimp.
Experience with photography and video production, particularly for social media platforms (e.g. Instagram and Facebook stories and live videos and/or YouTube)
Ability to pass a successful criminal background check with a vulnerable sector check
Own mobile device and apps for taking, editing, and posting photos to Instagram
Willingness to work some evenings and weekends as required
Experience with live streaming, using OBS or platform of choice
Familiarity with search engine marketing and optimization
Verbal and written skills in Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Farsi, or another non-English language
Knowledge of and experience engaging non-English social media and traditional media
Remuneration: $40,000 salary/year
This is a full time role at 35 hours/week. PoMoArts also offers a competitive Health Benefits package after the first 3 months of successful employment, 2 weeks of vacation/year plus 1 week off at Christmas.
