Summary of Responsibilities:  The Retail Operations Associate Intern works in a retail/social enterprise setting that contributes to the generation of revenue in support of various CCS programs and activities. They will assist in the safe and efficient operation of the stores and in creating a customer friendly environmentUnder the leadership of the Manager, Retail Operations (or designate) the incumbent will:


Sales Floor

  • Welcome and serve shoppers in a friendly and helpful manner, including conducting cash transactions in accordance with Retail Operations procedures; Provide efficient and accurate checkout service;
  • Promote upcoming sales or special events;
  • Maintain orderly sales floor, dressing rooms and check out areas; Price and replenish merchandise;
  • Answer telephone and customer enquiries in a professional manner.


Production Area

  • Welcome donors and assist them with their donations;
  • Safely lift and maneuver boxes and bags of donated items up to 30 kilos;
  • Sort through donations and evaluate items for quality and condition;
  • Price items according to established guidelines;
  • Place clothing on hangers and items on racks, distribute to the appropriate area on the sales floor.


  • Assists in the orientation of youth and volunteer workers, ensuring they have the required; information and knowledge to perform their roles safely and effectively;
  • Maintains overall store and personal workspace / equipment cleanliness and sanitizing along with co-workers while using provided PPE; Other duties as required.

Summary of Qualifications:

  • Secondary or post-secondary level of study in a related field an asset;
  • Excellent communication skills and comfortable interacting with the public;
  • Good oral and written English;
  • Eye for detail; Dependability;
  • Possess the ability to learn and follow procedures for cash handling, pricing, sorting and merchandising.
