Registered Nurse (RN) – Part-time, Permanent 0.75 FTE

We are seeking a RN who has an interest in or experience with providing the highest quality palliative and end-of-life care. As part of a small cohesive team, the RN, within the full-scope of practice will provide patient and family-centered care in our hospice residence.  

Position Details:

Work Location: Kanata, Hein House at Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice - 110 McCurdy Drive

  • Part-time Permanent, 0.75 FTE
  • Eligible for Group Benefits after 90 days
  • Eligible for paid personal/sick time
  • 2 weekends off per month

This line contains 15 shifts of  Days and Nights over a 4 week rotation

Schedule:

Week 1:  3 shifts  Nights- Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Weekend OFF

Week 2:  4 shifts  Days -  Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday

Week 3:  4 shifts  Days -  Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Weekend OFF

Week 3:  4 shifts  Nights - Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday

A Successful Candidate will Possess:

  • Bachelor of Science – Nursing (BScN), Bachelor of Nursing – (BN), or equivalent
  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current CPR
  • LEAP Certification (Learning Essential Approaches to Palliative Care), or willingness to obtain within 6 months
  • Experience in and/or knowledge of hospice palliative and end-of-life care
  • Understands ethics as they relate to hospice palliative care
  • Physically able to assist bedridden and disabled patients
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal, in English
  • Ability to communicate in French or other languages is an asset

Hospice Care Ottawa is a community-based charitable organization providing high quality end-of-life care for terminally ill people living in Ottawa. Services aim to provide residents and their loved ones with an experience in palliative and end-of-life care which is supportive and peaceful, surrounded by caring that reflects as closely as possible to a comfortable home environment. Hospice Care Ottawa programs include day hospice, home support, family services and hospice residence services. Hospice Care Ottawa relies on and values the contribution of over 700 volunteers who contribute to every aspect of our programs.

Hein House at Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice - opened in September 2017 and located in Kanata, is a 12-bed hospice residence providing round the clock care for people at end-of-life, in a home-like and peaceful setting.
