We are currently hiring for an HR Generalist reporting to the Director of Human Resources. This role will provide human resources (HR) support. This includes both the development and implementation of HR processes, systems and policies as well as ensuring related legislative and reporting requirements are met, and administrative support. The incumbent will understand and anticipate the human resources and operational needs and priorities of the organization, and promote a healthy, and safe work environment

 

The position responsibilities of the HR Generalist include:

  • Provides HR management services to support the day-to-day operational activities.
  • Ensures that HR practices are aligned with Indspire’s priorities and adhere to applicable legislation and best practices.
  • Coordinates recruitment, including compensation, benefits programs and workplace planning needs and strategies, in collaboration with the Management team.
  • Responsible for managing candidate search using various forms of outreach including LinkedIn, job boards, social networking sites, job fairs and networking events.
  • Coordinates the co-op, student placement and training programs including funding applications.
  • Supports in developing HR procedures and processes, including the development of forms, and acts as a resource for staff for same
  • Ensures that HR practices are aligned and consistently applied.
  • Co-chairs Health & Safety Committee ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Advises on legislative compliance on all HR and Occupational Health & Safety aspects from procedural perspective; trouble shoots with managers and staff.
  • Responsible for Job Evaluation program, in collaboration with external expertise, by coordinating and maintaining up to date records.
  • Maintains up-to-date job descriptions.
  • Maintains record keeping systems, including security of personnel records.
  • Supports the development and implementation of the organizational training plan, including research and outreach for appropriate learning opportunities.
  • Supports Director of HR and managers in fulfilling reasonable accommodation requests.
  • Refers confidential HR inquiries and complaints to the Director of HR and supports the appropriate process and possible courses of action.
  • Advises and updates the Director of HR on personnel issues and prepares necessary correspondence, briefings, and reports.
  • Maintains Employee Handbook.
  • Maintains confidentiality related to all activities and information of a strategic or sensitive nature.
  • Coordinates and prepares documents for various stakeholders.
  • Supports in new employee onboarding including arranging office set up including equipment, IT etc.; removes access and retrieves equipment for exiting staff in coordination with the responsible manager.

Qualifications

  • Completion of post-secondary education in related field, ideally Human Resources, or equivalent experience
  • Progressive experience, usually demonstrated through at least 3 years in an HR function.
  • Knowledge of and experience in Indigenous communities critical
  • Demonstrated openness to learning and willingness to engage in cultural competency training.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in applying labour and employment legislation preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and well-developed conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, judgement, and a high level of professionalism.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Able to prioritize and deal with multiple projects and changing deadlines.
  • Proven skills with a variety of software packages; Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point) and HRIS systems
  • Demonstrated discretion and ability to maintain the highest levels of confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work occasional evening and weekends.
  • Travel between Six Nations and Toronto offices is required.
