JOB DESCRIPTION:

As an Interim Executive Director, you will be assisting in forming the board that we report to. This is a Part-Time position with the potential to grow in time and pay based on business-needs.  This position can expand and will be shaped by the candidate and their unique skill-set.

The Interim Executive Director is an integral part of a small team that will lead the organization through a transition to not for profit charitable status and further the mission of building accessibility within the arts. This position will help to strategically shape the future of SOTMSC. An applicant will be expected to learn and work with the core founding concepts of the company. Primary areas of focus over the next 6 months will be:

  • Incorporation- Capacity-Building
  • The 2022-2023 season- launch and operation
  • SOTMSC’S "Return to Hospitals" Research/Development project- Research/Strategy-Building
  • Line producing for the 2022 Season- Develop understanding of the impact of the administrative work/decision making on the art-making experience.

Responsibilities Include:

RESEARCH

  • Conducting, recording and transcribing online or in-person interviews with stakeholders as restrictions allow in relation to the grant-writing process
  • Keeping abreast of changes in public health measures through research of various mediums, including but not limited to: scholarly articles, physical literature, mixed media, scientific journals and assessed news sources
  • Collaboration in gathering feedback and furthering efforts around audience engagement

BOARD-BUILDING/GOVERNANCE

  • Responsible for leading SOTMSC in a manner that supports the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.

MAINTAINING FINANCIAL VIABILITY

  • Responsible for fundraising and developing other revenue streams necessary to support the operation of SOTMSC
  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of SOTMSC, to include submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.

EXECUTING ORGANIZATION MISSION AND STRATEGY

  • Works with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach, and to ensure SOTMSC’s viability into the future.
  • Responsible for the enhancement of SOTMSC ’s brand by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.

BASIC OPERATIONS

  • Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.
  • Responsible effective administration of SOTMSC operations.
  • Signatory responsibility for official contracts, communications, and transactions on behalf of SOTMSC. 
  • Oversee marketing and public facing messaging.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • A keen awareness of the discussion within and relationship between the health-care and arts industries
  • Familiarity with spaces constructed to facilitate assistance with social cues, executive dysfunction and regulation
  • An proficiency with common organizational technologies (I.e., familiarity and fluency with Microsoft Excel, Office, Calendly and Google Drive)
  • A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent professional experience from a college, alternative schooling, apprenticeship or circle
  • An understanding of Not-For-Profit Structure and Board Relations
  • Ability to envision and convey the organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers and donors.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial results.
  • Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the funding community.
  • Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of influence including funders, partner agencies and volunteers.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong public speaking ability.
  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy.
