  • Have post-secondary education in a Social Services related field, Career Counseling, Adult/Youth teaching/training or a combination of related education and relevant work experience
  • Have Post-secondary education, preferably a career couseling certificate and/or facilitation and/or related University Degree with experience in career couseling
  • Have experience working with youth
  • Have knowledge of community agencies, services, resources and employers within the community
  • Have a valid Driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle

What you will do:  The Facilitator/Coach supports the activities of the Job Skills Employment Programs and Services activities by:

  • Assessing clients to obtain employment history, educational background, career goals etc.
  • Identifying barriers to employment and assist clients to develop job readiness skills
  • Assessing need for additional assistance such as rehabilitation, financial aid and/or further vocational training and making appropriate referrals
  • Supporting and monitoring clients as they progress through training interventions and /or return to work action plans
  • Following-up with clients at appropriate intervals to assess progress and record employment
  • Developing curriculum for specific groups and needs, evaluating and adjusting accordingly
  • Delivering seminars and workshops to clients, both in-house and as part of outreach strategies
  • Working with clients to facilitate peer-lead support groups around employability and job maintenance issues
  • Assisting clients in the use of resources and technology for job search activities
  • Entering client data into database and maintaining file notes and appropriate documentation around clients’ progress
  • Participating in community activities and job fairs
  • Delivering high quality service as outlined in Job Skills’ customer service standards

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education/certifications:
    • Minimum education requirement is a Post-secondary education, preferably in youth/adult teaching, youth/adult employment coaching and/or related experience
  • 2-4 years’ experience in the Social Service sector
