The ISTEM program provides information, orientation and a variety of employment-related services to newcomers, including Internationally Trained Professionals. The Professional Engagement for Access to Careers (PEAC) program addresses needs of  recent graduates beginning their careers.

We’re looking for someone who will:

  • Case manage clients, including providing information & referral services
  • Assess client needs and develop service plans with appropriate interventions to help clients achieve employment goals
  • Identify appropriate mentoring connections, ensure mentoring interventions and act as mentoring coach for mentees and mentors
  • Monitor the day-to-day operations of the program, identify best practices, and work collaboratively with on-site programs and staff to optimize client service
  • Conduct outreach activities to ensure program enrollment targets are met
  • Build new and utilize existing collaborations and act as a liaison with relevant educational institutions, employers and community organizations for project outreach and delivery
  • Engage, schedule and monitor internal and external speakers and facilitators for project activities
  • Facilitate and monitor mentoring activities for the program
  • Facilitate online and in-person job search related workshops, information sessions and labour market orientations
  • Maintain funder- and agency-used databases as well as other program records
  • Maintain client case files in compliance with the funder requirements; monitor clients’ progress with ongoing follow-up

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a recognized college or university in Social Services, Education or a related field
  • 1-2 years of experience providing service to newcomers and/or students, including counselling
  • Knowledge of mentoring, settlement or immigration and understanding of the Canadian education system
  • Strong technical abilities and use of agency software and systems, including the ability to facilitate online sessions
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective organizational and time management skills; ability to meet targets and deadlines
  • A clear Police Vulnerable Sector check is required for this position

  • Strong case management and administrative abilities
  • Demonstrated understanding of the specific needs of newcomers and International Students
