Position Summary:

LEF is launching an online Occupation-Specific Language and Skills Training program for Early Childhood Assistants. The program will consist of designing, delivering and testing a language and skills training program that will enhance skills of newcomers currently working in childcare settings, or that have recently been laid-off and wish to re-enter the field.

 

We are looking for a Content Developer with experience in creating and maintaining learning management systems based on Moodle. This position will be accountable for working with a curriculum developer to develop occupation-specific language training e-units for Early Childhood Assistants. This will include reviewing and adapting LEF’s existing Early Childhood Assistant training curriculum, enhancing the curriculum with occupation-specific language training and adapting it for online delivery.

 

The Content Developer will be working with a dedicated team of professionals who are highly committed to our community and who support employment and settlement needs, develop employer and community partnerships, and are all strong leaders in their fields of expertise. This is a part-time fixed-term contract.  12 hours a week for 25 weeks – start as soon as possible

 

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support in maintaining content within the learning management system by creating and uploading modules and courses, granting access and role-based user permissions, updating course content, and running reports.
  • Develop and publish course templates for reuse by educators in designing courses for online and blended learning delivery.
  • Support subject matter experts in the design and creating of learning materials and maintenance processes.
  • Periodically Monitor the quality of courses hosted on the learning management system with time-bound reviews of course status, and coordination to eliminate duplication, conflicting or redundant content.
  • Create and Manage community/discussion forum/ social media feed system within the learning management system including functionality, appearance, tabs, and settings.
  • Identify and communicate opportunities for process and quality improvements, provide feedback on usage, defects, and suggest enhancements.

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Minimum 2 years experience facilitating course delivery on the Moodle platform
  • Minimum 1 year experience adding interactive activities in Moodle, including the following: H5P, Quiz, Assignment, SCORM
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience adding standard resources and activities into a Moodle course, such as Glossary, Forum, Feedback, Choice, Label, Page, URL, File, Folder
  • Able to integrate media assets (audio, video, images) into various Moodle activities and resources
  • Able to set up activities in Moodle gradebook
  • Experience adding resources and activities into a Moodle course, such as Wiki, Poodll, Checklist, Book, Lesson, Game, Hot Potatoes, Chat, BigBlueButton, considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently and research the Web to find solutions to Moodle and other challenges
  • Ability to work within a team, communicate clearly
  • Ability to advise non-technical team members on the most suitable media and technology for LMS
  • Ability to advise writers on content specifications to ensure it can be successfully integrated into LMS
  • Ability to help establish and follow an efficient workflow in coordination with other team members, such as graphic designers, content writers
  • Ability to apply guidelines and standards to work, including a quality control review
