The Position:

Title: Director, Community Relations                                          Job Type: Full-time, 1.0 FTE

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Co-Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Community Relations oversees the development, implementation and management of the agency’s fund development, donor engagement and stewardship, communications, and volunteer strategies. The Director also takes leadership for the planning, coordination and implementation of the annual Unlocking Potential Foundation Gala, the agency’s premier fundraising event. Managing community relationships and representing CFS with donors, fundraising board members, partners and other external stakeholders are key functions of the Director role.

Responsibilities:

As a senior leader, the Director of Community Relations will: participate as a member of the senior leadership team in driving forward the pursuit of the agency’s purpose, ambitions and strategic objectives; liaise with and steward the board of Unlocking Potential Foundation, the agency’s fundraising arm; secure revenue through a major gifts strategy, community grants, various fundraising campaigns and corporate engagement strategies; oversee human resource allocation and management within the Community Relations department; build engagement with and oversee communication to external stakeholders of the agency, including the agency’s website and social media platforms; develop and monitor annual business plans, priorities and budgets;  and create tailored financial and/or program outcome reports for funders and donors.

Qualifications Required:

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:

  • Intuitive and strategic-minded leader, with a demonstrated ability to adapt and lead through change;
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, including written, public speaking and presentation skills;
  • Capacity and drive for innovation, creativity, critical thinking and problem solving;
  • Collaborative and team-oriented;
  • Proven track record in sourcing and securing new funding and external stakeholder management;
  • Experience in branding, marketing and communications an asset;
  • Superior attention to detail;
  • Experience in events planning and coordination;
  • Strong technical skills and ability to utilize technology and data to support strategic directions, including database management and analysis.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Marketing, Public Relations or equivalent required;
  • Minimum 3-5 years senior level experience in management/leadership, preferably in a non-profit environment;
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in fund development and stakeholder management.
