ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

 

We are seeking a highly motivated, team-orientated individual to join our Finance team as a Finance Clerk.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the primary objective of the role is to support the finance department and ensure that clients and vendors receive prompt and accurate payments for services, products and expenses.

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs data entry
  • Assists with the processing, verifying and reconciling of invoices
  • Assists with the account coding and costing to various programs
  • Assists with the processing of payments by EFT and cheques
  • Assists with preparation of various Finance reports
  • Provides administrative and clerical support as needed
  • Prepares and modifies documents including correspondence, memos and emails
  • Assist with any other Department of Finance tasks and responsibilities as needed


THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • High school diploma or equivalency with the completion of one (1) year or more post secondary schooling in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Previous experience in a finance role is an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
  • Proven ability to utilize, adapt and embrace new technologies including Excel, Word and any other database/software
  • Handle sensitive information in a confidential manner

 

OTHER COMMENTS

  • As per Canada Summer Jobs criteria, candidates must be;
    • between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at start of employment
    • a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
    • legally entitled to work according to BC legislation and regulation.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed to help ensure the efficient operation of MNBC
  • Ability to provide a satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s license and personal vehicle for work purposes [if applicable]
