The Board of Directors is seeking an exceptional individual for the role of Executive Director of Huron House, a live-in treatment centre located in Sarnia, Ontario.


Situated on the shores of Lake Huron at the mouth of the St. Clair River, The City of Sarnia is noted for its breathtaking sky-blue water and beautiful waterfront parks.  A border community with a population of 72,000 residents, the City of Sarnia offers a high quality of life with affordable living, excellent schools, state-of-the-art healthcare facilities, and a variety of cultural institutions, together with exceptional recreation and leisure services.


Since 1970, Huron House has been providing a home and future for at-risk adolescents.  Through a proven program, the residents receive treatment and counselling to learn and develop the life skills for future success.  Huron House relies upon strong relationships and support from the community and government to deliver outstanding care.


The Executive Director will be responsible for leading the organization into the future and maintaining a viable and long-lasting presence in the community.  The successful candidate will oversee all operations and management of the live-in treatment Centre, lead a dedicated staff, interact with other social services agencies and advocate for community and government support.


Preference would be given to candidates who possess a Master’s degree in a relevant field and five (5) years experience or equivalent in senior management.  Demonstrated experience in live-in treatment care, strategic planning, fundraising, budgeting, financial management and human resource management in a unionized setting is required.  Exceptional interpersonal communication and team building skills for interacting with residents, staff, Board of Directors, government and the community are essential.  It is important that the successful candidate has knowledge and experience with the children’s mental health sector.
