MODC is looking for a Coordinator, Volunteer Engagement based in Vancouver, British Columbia.

Profile:

Reporting to the Regional Manager, Community Programs & After Stroke, the Coordinator, Volunteer Engagement is responsible for managing, developing, implementing and evaluating volunteer-led programming offered across Canada, that exist within the CPAS portfolio.  In this role, the Coordinator will oversee a comprehensive volunteer and resource program within a specific region, while supervising and actively championing volunteer-driven activities across the CPAS portfolio. 

The Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Coordinator, After Stroke and the Coordinator, Community Programs within their respective region to ensure suitable volunteers are integrated into program delivery.  The Coordinator will also work closely with other Coordinators, Volunteer Engagement, Program Instructors, and the Senior Manager, Volunteer Engagement to ensure consistent practices are applied across the CPAS portfolio. In this role, the Coordinator will oversee a comprehensive volunteer and resource program within a specific region, while supervising and actively championing volunteer-driven activities across the CPAS portfolio. 

The Coordinator, Volunteer Engagement will work with the Regional Manager to ensure that CPAS departmental volunteer policies, procedures and practices are up to date and meet organizational requirements.  The coordinator will provide oversight for the identification of new volunteer opportunities within regional CPAS programs, development of appropriate volunteer assignments, recruitment, screening and selection of volunteers, including placements for students and interns.  The incumbent will ensure that CPAS staff assigned to work with volunteers and the volunteers are appropriately trained. 

The Coordinator, Volunteer Engagement is responsible for creating and executing annual program plans, establishing objectives and key performance indicators that are aligned with the broader CPAS goals.  The role will also be responsible for contributing to the promotion of a culture of volunteer appreciation and recognition within the organization with the goal of guaranteeing a positive and meaningful experience for all CPAS volunteers.

Responsibilities:

  • Organize, manage and facilitate a variety of engaging and meaningful volunteer opportunities that support program delivery within the specified region. 
  • Provide leadership and support to local teams in the maintenance of a network of voluntary stroke or disability clubs and groups, working with the relevant local team members.
  • Develop annual plans and manage volunteer resources effectively to meet program goals and objectives in a changing environment.
  • Stay up to date with new developments and trends related to volunteer engagement as it relates to supporting people with disabilities. 
  • Oversee plans and logistics, with support from the team, for supporter and volunteer engagement events, recognition receptions and cultivation events.
  • Maintain program records and files in accordance with organizational standards including the volunteer database.
  • Under the direction of management, implement and monitor evaluation standards for related volunteer engagement to demonstrate impact. 
  • Recruit respectable volunteers, including placement students and interns, that will support and sustain program delivery and group activities.
  • Identify professional development needs of volunteer workforce and provide training opportunities.
  • Develop a strong volunteer structure & culture to support the effective delivery of administrative and community activities for the region
  • Collaborate with internal teams and local community-based, volunteer-led associations, related groups and key stakeholders to support best-practice models for peer support, self-management and community re-engagement.
  • Foster a spirit of community engagement by actively participating in local volunteer networking events that enhance MODC's volunteer community presence.
  • Support and engage in MODC local fundraising and awareness activities and events.
  • Support the generation of revenue through coordinated fundraising activities and the development of funding proposals.
  • Monitor program statistics analyze the results and work with the Regional Manager to plan and influence fundraising results and relationships; this includes preparing weekly status summaries and reports for review with the Regional Manager.
  • Contribute to the development of volunteer-related policies, procedures and practices in accordance with organizational standards.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in health promotion, education, social services, volunteer development, community development or related area. 
  • 3-5 years working experience in a volunteer coordination capacity
  •  Experience working with the disability community, knowledge of disability issues and/or lived experience of disability will be considered strong assets   
  • Experience of providing person centred support to vulnerable people
  • Experience with group facilitation
  • Proven expertise in volunteer resources development and volunteer management
  • Experience and comfort using Microsoft Office products and volunteer management programs
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
  • Proven ability to supervise, motivate, train and monitor the performance of a team of volunteers
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Works effectively with, and demonstrates respect for others
  • Self-motivated to achieve results
  • Demonstrated flexibility to changing demands of the job and multiple tasks and deadlines; results-oriented
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to apply new methods and techniques
  • Driver's license essential
