Position Title: Group Facilitator, Y Mind Adult
Location: Robert Lee YMCA (955 Burrard Street, Vancouver)
Program is currently set to be delivered virtually with potential return to person and the Mental Wellness branch is currently working in-person and remotely
Terms: Temporary, Part-Time
Hours: 3.5 hours per week during program delivery
Approximately 20-25 additional hours for curriculum training and program meetings
Program Schedule: (October 19 – November 30)
Tuesdays, 5PM – 8:30PM
Start Date: As soon as possible
End Date: December 31, 2021, possibility for extension based on funding
Salary: $30.60 per hour

Y Mind is an exciting area of work within the Mental Wellness branch. The Y Mind Adult is a new addition to the Y Mind Programs that have been supporting young people between 13-30 who experience mild-moderate symptoms of anxiety. Y Mind Adult extends the age group to supports adults 31 years of age and older who experience symptoms of mild to moderate anxiety to learn helpful coping strategies and connect with other adults in a safe and encouraging group environment.
Y Mind Adult is a psychoeducation and support group that meets virtually for 2.5 hours one evening per week for 7 weeks. Two Y Mind Adult Facilitators are responsible for the intake of 10-12 group participants and delivery of the program which includes intake and individual follow-up meetings with each participant. The Y Mind Adult curriculum is based on Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness approaches. Y Mind Adult will be delivered once in fall 2020 and once in winter 2021.
Nature and Scope:
Reporting to the Y Mind Adult Supervisor, the Group Facilitators will work collaboratively with other staff and participants. The Group Facilitators are responsible for screening and intake of group participants, delivering program sessions online, connecting virtually with participants once individually following program completion, and providing appropriate community referrals for program participants if needed.
