The Kettle Driver/Ambassador is responsible for delivering and picking up The Salvation Army Kettles at various locations throughout the City of Red Deer ensuring that the daily schedule runs smoothly, reporting any problems to the Kettle Coordinator immediately and filling in gaps where necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

·         Deliver and pick up kettles from assigned locations throughout the City

·         Deliver supplies to kettle locations as required

·         Cover breaks for kettle volunteers and paid workers as assigned by Kettle Coordinator

·         Follow the provided schedule and complete necessary paperwork

·         Act as a Kettle Attendant when necessary

·         Follow policies and procedures as directed by the Kettle supervisor or Kettle Coordinator

·         Be presentable and approachable as an ambassador of The Salvation Army

·         Follow all pertinent laws, statutes and regulations while operating a motor vehicle

 

 

Qualifications and Education requirements:

Education/Certifications:

·         Completion of High School

·         Driver’s Abstract required

·         Provide a clear Criminal Record Check dated within the last 30 days

Experience:

·         Knowledge of Red Deer area roadways

·         Support for and an understanding of the mission and the purpose of The Salvation Army

 

Required Skills/Knowledge:

·         Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs for a short distance and upstairs

·         Ability to work under pressure, work efficiently, follow instructions and think independently

·         Must be able to work with a variety of people

·         Knowledge of Red Deer area roadways

·         Ability to concentrate while driving through traffic

·         Ability to work within the mandate and Mission Statement of The Salvation Army

 

PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities:

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and listening skills.
  • Adaptable to change and frequent interruptions

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent

 

DAYS and HOURS of work:

HOURS:  42.5 hours weekly.  This is a temporary/contract position, November to approx..December 24, 2021.  8.5 Hours per day, Tuesday thru Saturday.
