Project Welcome is a national online project newly funded by Immigration Refugees Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The goal of the project is to connect internationally educated professionals immigrating to Canada to smaller communities in Canada through pre-arrival online mentoring. JVS Toronto will partner with local community organizations to increase employer involvement in attracting immigrant talent to smaller communities in Canada by leveraging our existing online mentoring platform to deliver mentoring connections.

 

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to join our multi-lingual pre-arrival team. This dynamic role requires effective organizational abilities, flexibility to remain client-focused while achieving program targets and the ability to coordinate with multiple project partners across Canada. Responsibilities of this role include:

  • Conduct intake and in-depth assessment online to determine client program eligibility and create plan of action for services and provide referrals to partner organizations
  • Case manage clients, provide sector and province-specific labour-market information as needed
  • Conduct information sessions and provide coaching to orient clients an increase their knowledge about employment opportunities in smaller communities in Canada
  • Research and identify potential referral sources abroad, support establishing of referral arrangements and act as a liaison with referring agents
  • Collaborate with partner agencies to support them with recruiting, onboarding and engaging mentors
  • Deliver train-the-trainer and information sessions to partner representatives regarding the project, mentoring platform and mentoring model
  • Participate in marketing of the project and targeted national outreach to employers, organizations, and social networks as required 
  • Develop manuals and online learning content for Learning Management system to educate participants about opportunities in smaller communities in Canada 
  • Work with partner communities to develop contact for welcome toolkit that will be offered to project participants
  • Track, monitor, and support partner agency deliverables to ensure project goals are met 
  • Gather and analyze stakeholder evaluations after program completion 
  • Record and administer participant information/ documentation collection 
  • Collect data, tack, and analyze participants' progress, outcomes and feedback to prepare reports as required

Flexible hours/ evenings / weekends may be required for this position. 

 

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or Post Graduate Certificate in Social Services, Human Resources, or a related field. International degrees must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency
  • 1 year experience working with newcomers or good understanding of immigration issues
  • 1-2 years experience in a career/ employment counselling or mentoring coach role
  • Demonstrated knowledge of mentoring, settlement, and immigration. Awareness/ knowledge of client challenges
  • Strong technical skills, comfortable with online service delivery and using technology for various activities of the program; proven ability to master new tools and technology quickly
  • Experience delivering training and information sessions online
  • Technical expertise in excel, word, online meeting and webinar tools like GoTo Webinar and Zoom
  • Good time management skills; experience with multi-tasking and ability to shift focus based on changing project needs
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to develop and maintain relationships
  • Effective research skills and knowledge of the Canadian labour market
  • A clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this position

Our ideal candidate will also have: 

  • Employment Ontario knowledge and exposure
  • Fluency in a second language reflecting targeted outreach
  • Some exposure to technology projects -building new tools and platforms
  • Exposure to social media platforms and creating content for them
