LOCATION: Montreal, but option for the right candidate to work from home somewhere else in Canada

Katimavik is launching a new employability program aimed at youth who are looking for a way to build their future. This challenging and rewarding position will give you the opportunity to be part of the team that is creating this new Canada-wide program.

Katimavik has been offering development and leadership activities to Canada's youth since 1977. Our approach is based on the development of long-term, mutually-beneficial, relationships between our Participant volunteers and local communities. Katimavik programs offer life-changing opportunities to Canada's youth through experiential learning that allows them to gain life and career skills to thrive in today’s world. Katimavik's vision is to inspire youth to build inclusive and accepting communities comprised of people from all backgrounds, ethnicities, cultures, and religions. This vision includes collaboration with other organizations to foster understanding, respect, and reconciliation with Indigenous peoples.

 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Oversee the continuous coordination of program activities.
  • Supervise field staff, community partnerships, and the Participant experience.
  • Lead the day-to-day tasks specific to program administration.
  • Identify trends and propose system improvements to the Program Manager.
  • Ensure effective collaboration with community partners.
  • Audit and update Program curriculum/supporting documents to remain relevant and optimized in meeting Katimavik's objectives.
  • Review program survey results and execute required improvements to program delivery, thereby delivering quality results.
  • Facilitate training for the field staff.
  • Design, plan and schedule a week-long educative employability training session for the Participants.
  • Manage the Future Perfect department budget.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE

  • Previous program leadership experience.
  • A strong understanding of equity issues, and the ability to support youth from historically under-serviced communities, including Indigenous, newcomer, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
  • An open-minded and respectful character that embraces diversity and adapts to competing needs and interests.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English, and the ability to communicate in both official languages.
  • A Driver's license is required.
