Job Title : Maintenance Assistant
Based at : Main Building (downtown)
Reports to : Maintenance and Food Services Manager
Hours of work : Full Time, 40 hrs per week. 6 months contract, renewable

Responsible to assist the Maintenance Supervisor with maintenance, in tandem or alone, depending on need and skill set; to substitute as driver on the truck route
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contribute to the maintenance and repair of all machinery, equipment and building systems of all Hope Mission Edmonton facilities.
Work with building manager or Maintenance Supervisor and contractors on any renovation or maintenance projects as required.
Have background and experience in construction, maintenance and procedures related to facility maintenance.
Contributes to cleaning, snow removal and landscaping operations.
Repairs and other preparations to rooms and suites of Housing program
Meet and escort service persons, utility readers, etc within buildings
Fill in for truck driver when necessary, Assist with shipping and receiving, and loading/unloading of truck
To provide transportation of donations in-kind
Special projects/events as per request eg. Spring Banquet
To be respectful and honouring in all personal interactions, whether with staff, clients, or visitors.
To work with and provide leadership to clients who are assigned to the work service program
To observe and report upon conditions in need of repair
Keeping areas free of all potential hazards
Work safely, considering common sense, overt instructions, and best practices
To engage in productive work throughout the day, guided by priorities and self-monitoring quality
Maintain building security at all times
To work towards unity, camaraderie, and excellence within the workgroup
Attend staff meetings, training sessions as well as staff functions
To be capable of lifting/moving 50lbs/23kg or more
Miscellaneous duties as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Ability to work as a team player
Must be physically fit, no issues with standing and able to lift average of 30-50 lbs.
Completion of high school.
Related training or work experience in maintenance.
Knowledge in plumbing, renovations, paint, electrical, etc is required.
Comfortable working in the inner city.
Ability to Communicate effectively with other employees.
Conflict resolution skills
Administrative and organizational abilities.

Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis. Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
