Communications Coordinator (Part-Time, Remote)

Sisters Dialogue is looking for a resourceful and detail-oriented Communications Coordinator to provide administrative and communications support. This will be a key supportive role, supporting the Board of Directors with on-going community projects. This job will be mostly remote, with occasional in-person meetings and events (depending on prevailing COVID restrictions).

Are you looking for a unique opportunity to:

  • Directly help Black and racialized Muslim women affected by Islamophobia through a community-care framework?
  • Administer social media channels and create publicity materials to establish more visibility and awareness for our programs?
  • Design and administer our organisation’s website?
  • Collaborate with community partners to help launch much-needed programming for Muslim women?

 Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Attend monthly Board meetings
  • Prepare Board meeting documents’ package and take meeting minutes
  • Support the development of communications and media materials, including email communications, social media updates, and website content
  • Liaise with stakeholders, and coordinate meetings and events
  • Coordinate mental health referral requests
  • Assist in sourcing and applying for grant applications
  • Arrange for the delivery of community care packages to victims of Islamophobia
  • Any other tasks as required of the organisation

Qualifications:

  • Good understanding of intersectional issues affecting Black and racialized Muslim women
  • Willingness to learn or build skills in not-for-profit communications a must, communications experience a definite asset
  • Strong understanding of social media
  • Good knowledge of web creation and design on digital platforms like WordPress and Canva
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Considerable skill in writing
  • Strong attention to detail

Commitment:
3 - 5 hours per week

Start Date: November 1, 2021

End Date: July 31, 2022

Location: Virtual / Occasional In-Person
