Director, Information Systems & Technology Solutions
 
United Way Greater Toronto is looking for an experienced and proactive Director, Information Systems & Technology Solutions to join our team.
 
Reporting to the Chief Financial & Operating Officer, the Director will plan, evaluate, implement and maintain information systems and technology solutions to support business goals, and oversee the organization’s network and infrastructure.
 
What you’ll do:
  • Translate organizational vision and direction into effective technology planning and execution
  • Lead the organization’s information technology infrastructure – including project and risk management, research, evaluation, procurement and vendor management
  • Provide leadership, guidance and mentorship including goal setting, providing coaching and development opportunities and creating a positive and inclusive team culture, to develop teams with expertise in systems support, business analysis technology networks, business applications, IT governance, cyber security, mobile technologies and project management
  • As a member of the cross-organization Senior Management Team, contribute to the development and implementation of integrated business solutions
  • Help Desk: Based on ITIL/COBIT processes and procedures, build discipline, quality and excellence into IT/IS operations and processes – including setting and monitoring metrics, customer service, documentation and system administration
  • Business Continuity and Systems Security: ensure data and systems security and integrity through development, monitoring and testing of technical components of the Business Continuity Plan (BCP), proactively preparing for emergency situations  
  • Cyber Security and Risk Management: develop and manage on-going enhancements for an organization-wide Information Security Program including governance, risk, and incident response
  • Enterprise Application Management: work closely with all departments to align the systems development roadmap with organizational strategic priorities; manage competing priorities while balancing resource constraints (human and fiscal) to optimize system investments; ensure that all application initiatives have clear business goals and success measures; and effectively communicate the roadmap, plans and status linked to the organization’s initiatives and strategies
  • Ensure that all production systems are supported and maintained according to standards and that system changes are properly authorized, managed, and implemented in accordance with installation, release, and change control standards
  • Keep current with the latest technologies, and identify potential new technology solutions; proactively seek opportunities to improve and enhance the organization’s efficiency through innovative and improved systems and/or processes
  • Manage the team budget. including development and monitoring of operating and capital budgets
  • Manage the administration, negotiation and monitoring of third party contracts, software licenses and compliance, asset and inventory management
 
What you’ll need to be successful:
  • Post-secondary degree in technology or equivalent experience
  • More than 10 years experience in an IT or IT-related leadership role
  • Hands on technology experience, preferably including:
    • Microsoft Windows Servers (2003, 2008, 2012, 2016), Active Directory, MS Azure, AWS, Office 365
    • VMWare ESX Environment including VMotion high availability solutions
    • IBM Storage Area systems
    • IBM Blade Centre and Blade Servers
    • CISCO Routers, Firewalls, ASA, IPS, Citrix, VPN solutions
    • Avaya VOIP Solutions
    • Broadcom (Symantec) Endpoint Anti-Virus solutions
    • Automated patch management (desktop and server) and security and vulnerability monitoring solutions
    • Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions (e.g. MS Intune, VMWare/Airwatch)
  • Demonstrated experience in design, development and implementation of software products including cloud-based COTS systems
  • Advanced knowledge of cloud-based business platforms and applications, CRM (Customer Relationship Management) systems (experience with Blackbaud and Salesforce would be an asset), database management systems, enterprise .NET software development, frameworks and software architecture, data warehouse and business intelligence applications
  • Strong knowledge of current mobile (hardware and OS), digital and web-based technologies
  • Experience with enterprise online credit card payment processes, POS devices, payment card processors and general knowledge of the payment card industry
  • Expertise in IT Business Continuity Planning (BCP), IT Disaster Recovery, technical back-up strategies, network and storage capabilities, data administration
  • Experience with the application of enterprise cyber security for data, systems and networks
  • Experience in telecommunications including needs assessment, deployment and ongoing management of modern technologies (e.g. Unified Communications)
  • Experience and knowledge in preparing Requests for Proposal for information technology projects including procurement processes and contract negotiations
  • Knowledge of best practices and standards in service delivery and cyber security such as ITIL, COBIT and ISO270002
  • Strong planning, systems integration and process improvement experience and knowledge
  • Demonstrated fiscal responsibility for developing IT annual operating and capital budgets, and ongoing budget management
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate application development teams, and manage teams supporting customer-facing production environments
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines under pressure and take initiative to carry projects through to completion with minimum supervision
  • Excellent teamwork, interpersonal and constituent service skills including the ability to work respectfully and inclusively with a diverse employee population and multiple stakeholders
  • Strong communication and facilitation skills (both written and verbal) with ability to present and articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent judgment and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information
  • Strong project management skills and experience with managing multiple technology projects of various size and complexity with effective results (certification an asset – e.g. PMP)
  • Knowledge of the not-for-profit sector and managing unionized staff is an asset
