Manager, Financial Analysis & Business Support
(14-month maternity leave replacement contract)

Reporting to the Director, Strategic Finance, the Manager provides support in the areas of management discussion & analysis; financial planning & analytics; financial & predictive modelling; and financial advisory & business support.
 
What you’ll do:
Management, Discussion & Analysis
  • Develop and project-manage the preparation of data and statistics, performance, funding and other reports, including Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), and other performance tracking for management; transform data and KPI’s into meaningful information (data interpreter-story teller)
  • Implement management and operational reports and support in the interpretation of financial results, and identify financial risks to departmental budgets – revenues, community expenditures or operating expenditures
  • Support the Senior Management Team (SMT), fundraising and community engagement staff with the preparation and submission of donor agreement reporting
  • Support the SMT in coordinating funding opportunities from senior levels of government and municipalities
  • Develop, implement and deliver accurate management reports and scenario-sensitivity analysis in a timely manner
  • Participate and partner with other departments in the development and implementation of processes and procedures as required
  • Design and produce data analysis and interpretation – using datasets to provide insights and monitor operational and financial performance of key business drivers, leading to identification of risks and opportunities
  • Translate complex data analysis into simple visualizations for the SMT, departmental managers and stakeholders
 
Budget Planning; Financial Planning & Analytics; Financial & Predictive Modelling
  • With direction from the SMT, work with departmental managers in the preparation and review of work programs in support of the respective department annual business plan and budget
  • Prepare financial analysis and predictive modeling in support of management decision making
  • Provide insights on revenues, community expenditures and operating expenditures
  • Develop, implement and maintain financial models to provide insights on revenue channels – strategic corporate accounts, named corporate accounts, major individual gifts, third party processors and special events
  • Develop, implement and maintain key performance indicators in support of decision making – donor and revenue churn, cost of acquisition, cost of support, cost of marketing, cost of processing, financial profile of revenues and community expenditures
  • Develop, implement and maintain processes and controls to monitor risks with revenues, community expenditures and operating expenditures
 
Financial Advisory and Business Support
  • Liaise with, foster and maintain positive relationships with internal clients – the SMT, departmental managers and their teams, and provide financial advisory and business support as needed
  • Advise on financial information and business knowledge to the SMT, departmental managers and their teams in order to support and optimize evidence-based decisions – e.g. return on investment on fundraising and community programs
  • Gather, analyze and interpret operational and financial data – and communicate to the SMT, departmental managers and their teams (what do I know, what does it mean, what if)
  • Ensure financials are in compliance with donor agreements and community agreements
  • Reconcile financial reporting to management reporting – revenues raised, received and recognized; deferred revenues from restricted and targeted gifts
  • Be the finance translator between Finance-Controllership and the SMT, departmental managers and their teams
What you’ll need to be successful:
  • University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • 5-10 years of related experience in financial planning, budgeting, forecasting & analysis
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting, auditing, and capital & project finance – including budget management, financial planning and forecasting, financial controls, and financial & management reporting
  • Knowledge of business modelling, planning & reporting with accountability frameworks
  • Skilled in financial analytics and predictive modeling
  • Interpersonal, oral/written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong relationship building skills, and ability to build and leverage cross-functional partnerships
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and other software tools and applications to document and illustrate financials
