Auxiliary On-call

Position Summary:

Surrey Youth Services is currently looking for auxiliary on-call staff to provide overnight extreme weather shelter support during the winter. Hours will vary. Successful applicants will be part of an auxiliary pool. They may have the opportunity to work in various youth work settings such as supporting youth in the resource rooms, outreach and other activities in the Youth Hubs and various other youth programs.  

Academic and Job Experience Required:

B.A. or a degree in a related field, a community service support worker (CSSW) diploma or child and youth care counsellor (CYCC) diploma plus two years experience. Extensive relevant at-risk youth experience and/or a combination of relevant life experience will be considered.         

 Basic Requirements:

  • Criminal records check including vulnerable sector
  • Valid driver’s license, with Business Insurance
  • Use of own vehicle to and from work
  • Current first aid and CPR certificate
  • Sound judgment and effective personal skills


  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Solution-focused counselling
  • Addictions counselling training
  • Mental health training
  • Sexual abuse training
  • Depression/Suicide/Co-occurring disorder training
  • Knowledge of Surrey area and services is an asset
