East Kootenay Invasive Species Council (EKISC) is seeking a strong manager that has experience in the field of Not-for-profit or small business.  This person will support an experienced field team, education department, and contractors.  The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grow the EKISC organization model into a more divers service provider.

 

OVERVIEW:

Position:                          Program Director

Reporting to:                   EKISC Board of Directors

Term:                                Full-time (35 hrs/wk.) employee position beginning November 2021.

Wage:                               Starting salary$35 (Salary may be adjusted after probation) + 4% vacation pay, mileage rates, and other benefits.

Location:                          Home office based within Regional District of East Kootenay area.

Formed in 2008, EKISC is an environmental non-profit organization with the mission to mitigate the negative environmental, social, and economic impacts of invasive species. EKISC has a variety of programs, initiatives, and partnerships regarding invasive species management and outreach. JOB SUMMARY

EKISC is looking for a highly self-motivated and experienced professional to join our team as Program Director. The Program Director will have wide ranging responsibilities including: administrative management, finances which includes (budget tracking, payroll, and invoice payment and fundraising), human resources management, strategic planning, partnership building, contract management and leading special projects. The Program Director will lead a team of managers, focused on educational and field operational programs within the Regional District of East Kootenay (RDEK). The Program Director will assist in developing a defined annual work plan with regular consultation with the Board of Directors.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Program Director is expected to perform the following duties:

General Organizational Management:

 

  1. Maintain all EKISC files and documentation
  2. Maintain society status, insurance policies, WorkSafe BC, CRA, etc.
  3. Act as a signatory on behalf of organization.
  4. Co-ordinate, oversee and complete annual reporting requirements to meet funder requests and to maintain not-for-profit status.
  5. Organize and prepare EKISC Board and Committee Meetings documents.
  6. Function as the ‘public face’ of EKISC and its primary contact.
  7. Administer day-to-day activities of the organization.
  8. Perform other duties as directed by the EKISC board.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

The Program Director must fulfill the following requirements:

  1. Experience working with and leading not-for-profit organizations or Business Administration diploma
  2. Proven skills in administrative tasks including bookkeeping, budgeting, project and special event planning, project management, file management, logistics, and general items related to operating a not-for-profit society or a small business.
  3. Energetic, highly motivated, a natural leader and visionary.
  4. An aptitude for strategic thinking and implementation, ability to recognize and capitalize on new opportunities, threats, trends.
  5. Familiarity and confidence to lead advocacy/lobbying and fundraising efforts.
  6. Experience and ability to build partnerships with various interests and stakeholders.
  7. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  8. Ability to work independently with minimal direction, yet also work cooperatively with individuals, groups, stakeholders, government agencies, etc.
  9. Experienced communication and interpersonal skills.
  10. Skill and efficiency in preparing grant proposals, technical and professional documents, policies, requests for proposals, contracts, reports, news releases, letters and business correspondence.
  11. Demonstrated experience in contract supervision and/or employee supervision.
  12. Technical proficiency in computers, Microsoft Office, accounting software (QuickBooks), online file management/sharing, and other programs.
  13. First Aid certification is an asset.
  14. Ability and comfort with working in the field on occasion.
  15. Ability to legally work in Canada is required.
  16. Ability to work from a home office (computer and telephone will be provided).
  17. Criminal record check is required.
  18. Driver’s license, and use of a reliable personal vehicle.
