Do you want to make a difference for the patients and families you care for? 

We are seeking a RPN who has an interest in or experience with providing the highest quality palliative and end-of-life care.
As part of a small cohesive team, the RPN, within the full-scope of practice will provide patient and family-centered care in
our hospice residence.

Work Location:      Kanata, Hein House at Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice, 110 McCurdy Drive.

Hein House at Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice, opened in September 2017 and located in Kanata, is a 12-bed hospice residence
providing round the clock care for people at end-of-life, in a home-like and peaceful setting.

Position Details:

  • Part-time Permanent
  • 13 shifts over a 4 week rotation - 0.65 FTE)
  • Eligible for Group Benefits  (Health, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance and LTD)
  • Eligible for paid personal/sick time

Shifts:  Days (0700-1500) and Nights (2300-0700); All shifts are 8 hours & fully paid


  • Week 1       Nights:  Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday
  • Week 2       Days:    Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday
  • Week 3       Days:     Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
  • Week 4       Nights:  Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday

   Qualifications & Background:

  1. Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  2. LEAP Certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months
  3. A strong sense of dedication to the mission, vision and values of Hospice Care Ottawa
  4. Knowledge and experience in Hospice Palliative Care
  5. Excellent communication skills
  6. Leadership skills
  7. Understands Ethics as they relate to Hospice Palliative Care
  8. Ability to work as part of a team
  9. Ability to give and take direction
  10. Bilingualism is an asset - English/French, other
