Burnaby Community Services Society, in collaboration with Burnaby Neighbourhood House, is seeking an experienced office assistant to manage reception duties and provide general administration and program assistance.  In particular, this new team member will be highly organized in order to assist with our Burnaby Recreation Credits, and Burnaby Seniors’ Transportation programs.  The position is based on a 4 – 6 month contract with the possibility of an extension.

 

We are looking for a resourceful, enthusiastic individual with strong communication and organizational skills to assist with our programs. This individual will be joining a dynamic team of community-driven staff and volunteers to engage and support Burnaby residents with economic challenges.

 

General Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Reception and Administration
  • Front Desk reception duties.
  • Provide COVID 19 screening as required.
  • Directing phone calls and answering telephones inquiries.
  • Assist with administrative and other duties as required.
  • Administration & Program Assistance
  • Assist with projects and varied programs for individuals with low-income and seniors at risk.
  • Program Assistance for the following:
  • Burnaby Recreation Credits Program – provides a credit to Burnaby residents in financial need. Qualifying applicants receive a credit to be used at any Burnaby Parks, Recreation & Cultural Services facility for registered programs.
  • Process applications for qualifying residents of Burnaby to receive a recreation credit.
    • Burnaby Seniors Transportation Program – an affordable and convenient service to provide Burnaby seniors with low income with transportation to their essential medical and dental appointments.
  • Schedule and coordinate transportation for seniors within our Burnaby Seniors Transportation program.
  • Provide in-person intake visits with new clients.

Qualifications:

  • Previous administrative experience in an office environment a must.
  • Proficient working knowledge MS Office, with high level experience in Excel.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Candidate must be a team player with a can-do attitude.
  • Enjoys a positive, hard-working environment with like-minded individuals.
  • Multi-task effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Time management skills with the ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to communicate successfully with people of diverse backgrounds either by phone or in person.
  • Experience with seniors is preferred.
  • Knowledge of local resources is preferred.
  • Must have vehicle for client visits.

The Burnaby Neighbourhood House is a charitable non-profit organization. We are a volunteer driven, community funded agency with a unique focus on neighbours supporting neighbours. For seniors in our community, we offer a range of programs and services, ranging from shopping and food programs to social support and information services.

 

Hours, Location & Pay rate:  

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

This role is an in-person role at the Brentwood Community Resource Centre

(located at 2055 Rosser Avenue, Burnaby)

 

Rate of pay begins at $20.48 (dependent on experience).
