Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) is an initiative of the Youth Employment Strategy, which is the Government of Canada’s commitment to help young people (under 30), particularly those facing barriers to employment, get the information & gain the skills, work experience and abilities they need to transition successfully into the labour market. This job may be worked on a full or part-time basis (flexible hours) to a maximum of 280 hours, through to February 2022. 

 

Assist with Facilitation of workshops

May deliver workshops

Conduct needs assessment & complete Intake/registration

Organizational & administrative tasks

Provide group & individual support & assistance to youth such as resume writing, interview techniques etc. to help unemployed youth find summer employment

Outreach to new & existing employers to identify summer employment opportunities

Perform outreach activities to & liaise with schools & community referral sources to stimulate client referrals

Assist in the planning & execution of hiring events, special events & community presentations

Support job placement activities by placing clients in jobs that are appropriate to their employment goal

Monitor placements through regular contact with employers & clients by conducting appropriate follow up phone calls & documenting contact according to contractual agreement & service agreements

Assist in scheduling, preparing for & facilitating job search workshops & community presentations utilizing a variety of multimedia tools

Maintain client & employer files according to the established Employment Ontario & management information systems & procedures, while adhering to privacy & confidentiality requirements.

Assist with reception desk administrative duties including: welcoming visitors in person or on the phone; answering or referring inquiries, direct visitors to workshops & services; issuing visitor badges, completing data entry; compiling monthly reports & filing manual & electronic records.
