Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) has an opening for a Manager, Connect Mental Health Counselling. Reporting to Director, Programs and Services, the Manager, Connect Mental Health Counselling is responsible for supervising Connect Mental Health Counselling staff for the direct service provided to counselling clients, as well as managing staff human resources needs (including recruitment, on-boarding, training, attendance management, monitoring staff performance, implementing Performance Improvement Plans, and disciplining of staff).

 

The Manager, Connect Mental Health Counselling will also:

 

• design, implement, and maintain an internal system of quality controls by providing supervision and clinical consultations, performing file audits, managing and reporting critical incidents, creating comprehensive risk management policies and procedures, managing and resolving conflicts of interest, upholding standards of practice of relevant governing bodies, and being available for urgent matters as they arise within Counselling Services.

 

• oversee the activities of the counselling staff to ensure that professional practices meet the requirements of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW), the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and/or other internal/external standards.

 

• support the Director, Programs and Services with developing risk management procedures for Counselling Services.

 

This is a permanent, full-time position working Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

 

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a human services field such as Clinical Social Work or Counselling Psychology, along with 3-5 years’ experience in clinical program administration; providing consultation and supervision in a clinical setting; direct service experience in the mental health field and in risk management. Professional registration/credentialing/licensure for independent practice with a relevant regulatory body, i.e. Ontario College of Social Workers or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario is required.

 

You bring a person-centred and strengths-based approach to client service and have proven knowledge of mental health and health issues associated with seniors and others with an acquired hearing loss, combined with demonstrated knowledge of technical devices and communication access tools for consumers who are deaf or have a hearing loss.

 

We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with demonstrated sound clinical judgement, initiative and leadership in counselling and case management programs, complemented by excellent communication skills (including presentation skills and writing proposals and reports) and administrative and financial management plus statistical reporting skills (including accounting experience with large budgets). A sense of urgency is required, as well as the ability to handle a pressurized environment and manage a varied workload with competing priorities and deadlines.
