Position Title: Member Production Support Specialist

Reports to: Manager, Digital Media Labs

Department: Artscape Daniels Launchpad

THIS POSITION IS PART-TIME HOURLY

 

Position Summary: 

The Member Production Support Specialist is focused on member bookings, programming and administration in the Digital Media Lab. Each Specialist is responsible for a different area of digital media expertise, and supports the safe, efficient and effective operation of the studios in that area. This specific position is for a specialist in the area of Photography.

 

The Member Production Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective operation of the studios. This front-facing role requires in-depth knowledge of the relevant equipment and involves a wide range of hands-on studio-based work. 

 

Excellent customer service and community-building skills are required. The successful candidate will be comfortable supporting a wide range of studio-based projects and will be committed to creating a safe, inclusive and respectful space. Experience working with and supporting diverse creative communities is required.  

 

This position is ideal for a resourceful and motivated individual with a passion for helping others. Experience in an additional discipline related to studio-based photo and/or video production would be considered an asset. 

Major Responsibilities:

Production Support

  1. Facilitate studio bookings in the area of Photogarphy
  2. Ensure the safe and effective operation of Digital Media Lab studios
  1. Set-up, maintain, operate and troubleshoot equipment, systems and facilities 
  1. Support Digital Media Lab operations and administration
  2. Employ industry best practices in all operational areas

Teamwork and Customer Service

  1. Demonstrate professionalism
  2. Work collaboratively with colleagues, partners and stakeholders to provide excellent customer service for studio users
  3. Support a wide range of clients, creative communities and industry partners
  4. Create a safe, inclusive and respectful work environment
  5. Build community and support a wide range of creative projects 
  6. Prioritize creativity, integrity, community, collaboration and learning 

Training and Development

  1. Develop and deliver programming in the areas of audio production
  2. Provide technical training, mentorship and advice to members and clients 
  3. Participate in relevant professional development and training to stay current with industry best practices and trends

Other similar or related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Technical Skills, Competencies, and Knowledge

  • Advanced level of technical knowledge in studio-based photography
  • In-depth knowledge of established and emerging practices in photography
  • Proficient in the operation of relevant equipment and software
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills 
  • Excellent mentorship, facilitation, presentation and instruction skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent administrative, organization and planning skills
  • Excellent decision-making, problem-solving and trouble-shooting skills
  • Excellent multi-tasking and time-management skills
  • Excellent collaboration and team-work skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and acquire new technical skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to follow instructions, produce deliverables and meet deadlines

 

Transferable/ Enabling Skills, Competencies, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Extensive practical experience in photogarphy
  • Demonstrated success in a project-based, client-facing customer service role 
  • Experience working with and supporting diverse creative communities 
  • Although not required, experience in studio-based video or photo production would be considered a significant asset
  • Although not required, creative entrepreneurship experience would be considered beneficial
  • Although not required, experience with VFX, AR, VR, animation or related field would be considered benefitable

  • Minimum educational attainment/ training in the form of:
    • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field 

OR equivalent knowledge, skills, competencies, and abilities gained through alternative education or experience

  • Minimum progressive experience in the form of:
  • 2-4 years’ experience in video production and/or photography

 

Hiring Range: 21.18 - 24.92
