Regular Full-Time Position
Reporting to the Art Rental & Sales Manager, the Office Assistant assists with all daily office duties as required, including but not limited to, clerical support, correspondence with clients, consigners and suppliers, inventory, client and consigner data entry and overseeing the daily function and maintenance of operating equipment. This position supports the Art Rental & Sales Manager in developing marketing content for Gallery website, newsletter, e-newsletter and social media. This position is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of all Art Rental & Sales files and provides sales assistance in the AR&S showroom.
Completion of Grade Twelve supplemented by business system courses and university courses in art history or a related field, plus two years’ experience working in a not-for-profit art sales or consignment setting in an administrative position. The successful candidate will have the ability to cultivate and maintain quality relationships with clients, artists, staff and volunteers; ability to work independently in an organized manner with a high level of attention to detail. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Event coordination experience is an asset. Computer proficiency with Point of Sale systems, Mailchimp, Microsoft Office Suite and social medial channels. InDesign and website maintenance experience would be an asset. Ability to lift boxes up to 25 lbs. as the position requires the incumbent to lift and hang artwork.
SALARY: Pay Grade 13 Step 2 $21.31 per hour
HOURS: 7 hours per day, 35 hours per week. Hours of work 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., may include some evenings for the purposes of liaising with client and program events.
Vancouver Art Gallery full-time staff are currently working reduced hours of 28 per week (4 days). Should hours increase this position would receive additional hours.
