Applications are currently being accepted for a part-time Clinical Counsellor in our Men’s Program.

 

Summary                    

 

To coordinate a comprehensive program and services for men who have been sexually/physically/emotionally abused in childhood. The objective is to assist clients in overcoming barriers and increase coping strategies.  

 

Job Responsibilities    

  • Facilitate crisis intervention for clients (abuse, child protection concerns, post-traumatic stress,
  • panic situations, suicidal ideation or other critical incidents)
  • Support clients through individual and group processes, and other modalities
  • Evaluate results of the intervention and provide follow-up once the client has achieved the counseling goals
  • Meet all service delivery standards
  • Monitor results on an outcome measurement model
  • Network and explore partnerships to further the program and resources
  • Monitor trends and information to ensure program continually meets the needs of the target client group
  • Coordinate preparation of promotional and display material (flyers, brochures, articles, information packages)
  • Other relevant duties as assigned

 

Key Qualifications

  • Masters degree in a related field, combined with three (3) years current paid work experience working with men who have been abused in childhood
  • Knowledge and experience in working in an anti-hate, anti-oppressive model
  • Strong communication skills and ability to convey material
  • Ability to work with diverse organizations and clients including cultural sensitivity
  • Current and ongoing membership in good standing in a recognized governing body
  • Ability to work from home, consisting of a safe and private home office setting and the necessary technical equipment and high-speed Internet access for remote work
  • Familiarity with virtual work platforms
  • Excellent oral and written command of the English language
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships
  • Ability to work in various locations throughout the Region of Peel, and the flexibility to work day, evening & week-end hours
  • A valid Ontario drivers license in good standing with appropriate insurance, and regular access to a reliable vehicle is required
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Word and database for case notes
  • Demonstrated efforts to continuously update skills
  • Additional language(s) an asset
