Program Overview

The Psychological Services Department provides assessments, intervention and consulting services to children, youth, and adults. We have exciting opportunities to assist us with a variety of referral issues for each of our client groups. You would be part of a team of psychology service providers, vocational evaluators and career counsellors.

We’re looking for someone who will:

  • Maintain records, clinical notes, files, statistics and program details as necessary and in compliance with JVS Toronto and CRPO guidelines/ standards
  • Provide sessions autonomously
  • Develop appropriate treatment plans relying upon assessment of clients’ needs and in coordination with members of the department as needed
  • Prepare comprehensive summary reports
  • Participate in Peer Consultation with colleagues as needed
  • Administrative duties, such as closing files, emails, telephone calls, and contacting clients, referring agencies, educational and mental health professionals, or informants for completing questionnaires
  • Provide consultations to clients, schools, and other social services agencies as needed
  • Follow up with potential referral sources and potential clients for assessments
  • Maintain CRPO required professional liability insurance

Flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required for this position.


Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • Master’s degree or acceptable graduate level training from a university/program in Counselling, Social Work or Psychotherapy that is recognized by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
  • Member of the College of Registered Psychotherapist of Ontario and registered as an autonomous practitioner
  • Must be eligible to supervise qualifying members of CRPO
  • Counselling or Psychotherapy training, such as in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
  • Specialized treatment training, such as for Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Regular accumulation of continuing education credits pursuant to the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario
  • Over 2 years of experience providing mental health psychotherapy
  • Ability to develop a treatment plan
  • Well-developed clinical skills
  • Effective problem solving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of personality types, cultural backgrounds, and vocational barriers
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Computer literate; the ability to learn systems used by the agency (ie. SalesForce)
  • A clear Vulnerable Sector check is required for this position
