Details

The successful candidate is responsible for optimizing the home environment for purpose of enhancing the physical and emotional well-being of children and their families. Assists in the strengthening of parent-child relationships, promotion of healthy childhood growth and development outcomes, and ensuring safe home environments. Services are provided by combination of virtual and face-to-face in the family home, are structured, family-centred and strength-based. Participate in community outreach and help families’ access services in their communities.

Qualifications

 

High School diploma and three to five years of early childhood experience or Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in social work, early childhood education, human services or related field and one to three years of early childhood experience. Travel required. Knowledge of community resources needed. Excellent written and spoken English language skills. Must be capable of being in families` homes where there may be animals, smoke, dust and other allergy inducing elements. Satisfactory Criminal Record and Child Intervention Check, and COVID 19 Vaccination Confirmation to be submitted prior to employment.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Of Asset both training and experience in Administering the Ages and Stages Questionnaires; Family Violence & Family Violence Screening and Motivational Interviewing Level 1.
  • Of Asset completion of the Alberta Family Wellness Initiative Brain Story Certification
  • Knowledge of infant and child development and parent-child attachment/bonding
  • Knowledge of maternal-infant health and dynamics of child abuse and neglect
  • Knowledge of the dynamics and issues of high-risk families
  • Ability to establish rapport and build trusting relationships with families
  • Knowledge of best practices in parenting education and support
  • Experience and willingness to work with culturally diverse populations
  • Experience with family services delivered in home-based settings
  • Assist parents in planning and implementing activities that promote bonding, attachment and sustained positive parenting
  • Ability to effective work in a team environment that is fast-paced and works closely together
  • Knowledge of computer software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills; be detail-oriented and able to maintain client confidentiality
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
